Hi everyone!

The updated driver is now available via Windows Update as well. If you happened to disable hardware acceleration as a workaround before the driver was available, you should re-enable it to avoid potential performance issues. More info here on how to do that.

Have a great weekend.

Either save the attachments to the local drive and then right click on them and select Properties and click on the Unblock button, or in Word, go to File>Options>Trust Center>Trust Center Settings>Protected View and uncheck the "Enable Protected View for

Outlook attachments" item (and the others if you wish)

This suggestion helped me, but in fact it was changing the setting for "Enable Protected view for files originating from the Internet" that allowed me to open the file. I'm remotely accessing an Outlook account via the internet so I guess that tags the file as having 'originated from the internet'.

However looking at this more closely I took Doug's suggestion of using the 'unblock' property for the individual file and for now I've reinstated the general Protected View settings for files from the internet and from Outlook, which retains the default levels of protection but this still allows me to look at specific files, and I'll keep this style until I see a need to change anything more comprehensively. I can individually scan any downloaded files I need to look at using my anti-virus software.

All this advice was useful and prevented me having to potentially spend quite alot of time reinstalling software, search and look for updates etc. when generally the software is working and for now I want to just focus on the work I need to do in the first instance. I'll look into updating the software or installing better plug-ins, .dll files or drivers or any other files at a more convenient time.

Thanks Doug for your very helpful advice!

Regarding the same issue, protected view problem, I called the MS and was trnasfered to a call center in New Delhi, India. I was with them on the phone for more than 2 hours still they could not find the solution for the problem. It was shame. Out of desperation, because my office emails and other important works are backing up, I did google search and found the solution - got it fixed my self in less than 30 sec. Thanks so much for the post - very valuable. May be MS should re-train their staff- atleast teach them to google it.

    With Regards,

    Raj.

    Hi MetaDzu,

Thanks for letting us know about this. Sorry I didn't catch your comment earlier. Since you don't see the update, feel free to download the driver here. If you're still having trouble after that, please let us know.

Unfortunately when I tried to check for updates, it informed me that my system was up to date and no update for the DisplayLink driver was available. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from the Home edition as well. Any additional help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
