Hi everyone!

The updated driver is now available via Windows Update as well. If you happened to disable hardware acceleration as a workaround before the driver was available, you should re-enable it to avoid potential performance issues. More info here on how to do that.

Have a great weekend.

Has Microsoft released a fix for this ongoing issue yet - it's been going on for a few weeks in our office and noticed that only the folks that are using a surface or a Del xps 13 are having this issue - these come with a factory deployed OS - I am not having any issues with the users that I personally upgraded from win7 to win10

Very interesting observation about the folks that have been encountering this issue. I myself am on a Dell XPS 9343 running Windows 10 v10.0 Build 10240 and Office v15.0.4763.1003. The PC came with Windows 8.1 and I upgraded to 10 a couple months back. I wonder if a fresh install without any of the Dell-supplied bloatware would help...

I have exactly the same issue as Aaron describes.  All Office Apps crash when trying to open attachments from Outlook. I have no issue opening file attachments in Outlook in other applications (PDF for example) just Office apps.

I contacted Microsoft support - they had me uninstall and re-install Office 365, without luck.

Running Windows 10 build 10240 on Surface Pro 3

    Build I was on prior to re-installing - 16.0.6001.1034

    Current O365 build - 16.0.6001.1038

Everything worked fine until an update was pushed to machine two weeks ago.  May need to revert back to Office 2013 to restore functionality.

I'm experiencing the same issue as others here - attempt to preview a file (e.g., Word doc, Excel file, etc.) in Outlook and the Outlook Previewer tries to open and then immediately crashes:

The Word previewer then shows up in the Outlook message pane as being disabled. Re-enabling and trying again yields the same result.

To earlier posted troubleshooting steps, there is no "Unblock" button when downloading an attachment to my desktop and right clicking > Properties, so not sure about that step...

I'm also hesitant about disabling Protected Mode viewing within Outlook - that is not exactly a security best practice (e.g., "My front door deadbolt doesn't work properly - guess I'll just leave it unlocked.")

Interestingly, per the MS support article that was linked to detailing known issues with Windows 10, I amrunning Avast, however I'm running v.11.1.2242 so I would hope that the incompatibility was since resolved since the 10.3 version.

As several others have suggested, I believe this is a legitimate MS software issue that exists with Outlook protected view. Hope it gets added to the backlog (if not there already) and resolved before too long.

Appreciate all the help in this thread thus far.
