OneNote (OSX) Language Proofing

But this does not make any sense.... The assumption ist just wrong ...

I had the same problem as I need my Norwegian keys for writing in Norwegian, but only use English in OneNote. 

I found a solution to the problem, though requiring a little tricking with keyboard layouts in order to make the mac think the layout is English. 

1. First, I download Ukelele 3.0.2 from here. Remember also to add the "Resources" folder to somewhere on your mac, as it tells you to.
2. Once the app is launched, press cmd+O, and open Resources -> Roman (given that it's a Roman language you're using)
3. Find your language, and press the "Language.." button. On the scroll menu on the top, choose English (en), and press "Ok"
4. Now, right click on your language, and chose "Duplicate Keyboard Layout". This opens up the keyboard, but don't worry about the keyboard, we won't touch anything there.
5. It should say "Untitled" on the top of the window, so just press there, and rename it to "US", and put it in a folder where you can find it.
6. Now, go to Finder. Macintosh HD -> Library -> Keyboard Layouts. Copy your new keyboard language "US" in here. It requires an admin password.
7. Log out and back on to your user account.
8. Final step: Go to System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Input Sources.
9. Select the "+" button. Scroll down to "Others", and select your new "US" keyboard layout.
10. Ta-da :-)

Why would you do that? OS X has set ways to find the language to use and that has nothing at all to do with the keyboard. It has to do with the language set as the system languages (which are keyboard independent). I mean you could set a global preference in the settings for me to force the app to use the langauge I want (I can see ways in which I need to collaborate and so need to use a language that is not "normally" used. 

Secondly, this bug is nearly a year older than your response ... has anything changed? I mean, we are now on a new release of One Note ...

This is why MS stuff is so frustrating. It seems there is no consistency between MS apps on how they do stuff and no respect for other platforms standard methods. 

Evernote will get me to remain on their system after all. And since I am our driver of technology, and am pushing out all the meeting notes ... everyone else will have to use that system too ...

MS forgot Mac OneNote users.

I'm facing the same problem here. My main language is Portuguese, but I bought my mac in US, so the keyboard is set as US-International so that I can use all the letters without messing it all.

I've tried almost everything, including deleting all the other dictionaries, but nothing worked.

Hope MS solve this problem soon, cause OneNote is one of my favorite softwares and I wouldn't like to give up on it.
