How to get images to display in draft layout?

Strong opinions?  Until now I've expressed two opinions.  1) "you seem to have a lot of disdain for Word" which you've confirmed making it fact, 2) "Why don't you use OpenOffice?" is a reasonable question considering its saving qualities (your opinion).  Neither strike me as very strong (new 3rd opinion).

Until now, as expressed in the earlier post above, I had no opinion concerning your presence here.  You concluded, of your own free will, that my question was a suggestion to leave and you maintain that conclusion despite being informed otherwise.  You seem to draw strong conclusions ;-)

Seriously, I am not and I have not suggested that you leave this forum.  If you will allow, I'll strike the no opinion comment and say that I hope you hang around.  That said, don't expect me to be screaming bloody murder with you.  Sometimes screaming bloody murder is the same as howling at the moon (new 4th opinion).

I don't know if you do or do not, nor do I really care.  I asked because you apparently have a lot of disdain for Word and you yourself mentioned OpenOffice in your last post.  If it may save you then why don't you give it a chance to be your saviour?  That seemed a reasonable question and still does.

Wow. You seem to have some fairly strong opinions. Sorry I upset you. See, I can be sarcastic, too. ;-)

I have a lot of disdain for some of the cavalier business practices of M$FT. They were once a lean, innovative company that ran circles around the dominant and arrogant technology corporation of the 80s (IBM). Now they are (or were) that dominant and arrogant technology company and they are getting their grass cut by leaner and more innovative companies who will, no doubt, in their turn, become bloated and arrogant and get their butts kicked by others.

Companies benefit from criticism. It you truly want Office to be the best product it can be, you should welcome critical people to this forum, not suggest they just go away. Office has huge problems. If every user screamed bloody murder or switched to alternative products, M$FT would get their act together. If we all just go along like lemmings, then we get what we deserve. ymmv

This sure sounds like, "If you don't like it around here, leave".

PS: I just did a little test to see how much more screen real estate page view uses as compared with draft view. On my laptop screen, a document in draft view at 100% zoom is 202 mm wide. That same document in page view at 100% zoom, is 233 mm wide. That's 15% more space.

There are other advantages to draft view, or what is called galley mode in the printing industry. For one thing, it's easier to see the order of lists and tables in multi-column pages.

I don't know if M$FT is trying to kill draft view or just doesn't give a damn (or both).
