Rotate PDF's in OneNote

I noticed that OneNote always displays PDF's sideways after inserting them using the File Printout command.  I read some discussions where MS tried to say it had something to do with the printer driver in Adobe, etc., etc.  I don't understand why I have to install a 3rd party program (Onetastic) which does plenty of good things, but I really only use it for the rotate PDF menu that it provides.  Did the MS engineers just get too tired to include this very basic, totally necessary feature?

As I understand it, OneNote is intended to be primarily an online resource.  Paper size is not usually a concern.

You could also make this feature request at the UserVoice site. MS doesn't look here for feature ideas, that is specifically what the UserVoice site is for

If you have an (other) feature suggestions to make for various MS products, here is a longer collection of MS UserVoice.com sites:

Key word in what Rogn007 said, "primarily" only got computer use.  I use OneNote for class sms also projects.  Even when mostly paperless you still need to print stuff sometimes...just like excel.  Even is not intended to be printed so much as used online but it is still useful!  The absence of this to is about as stark as the absence of the ability to rotate pdfs.

If someone lists either of these ideas make sure to post a link here.

It worked for me in adobe. As the man said, just played around with/changed the orientation setting from auto to my choice and presto change, very easily.

    Hi Omar,

I'm using OneNote 2013 and I have exactly this issue - so I found this old thread. I really appreciate your candid input here and I fully appreciate that issues have to be prioritized.

However, I believe this issue may be with the "Send to Onenote" printer driver - and not the OneNote application itself. Specifically, I think the issue is that the driver doesn't read back the orientation automatically from the application, but uses a static setting for Portrait or Landscape instead. So, if I try to do what you suggest: to open the PDF with Adobe Reader and print it using Send to Onenote, then I have exactly the same issue because the default setting for the Send to Onenote printer is portrait. If I go into the (Printer) Properties in the print dialog and change to landscape orientation it will print correctly. Similarly, if I change the DEFAULT Printing Preferences for the Send to Onenote 2013 printer to landscape orientation  then it prints in landscape when using the Insert Printout feature as well. Needless to say, any other printer driver will automatically read back the orientation from the application and print accordingly...

Do you know if there is an update to the Send to Onenote 2013 printer driver that addresses this issue?

    Thanks again!

    Fredrik.
