Rotate PDF's in OneNote

I noticed that OneNote always displays PDF's sideways after inserting them using the File Printout command.  I read some discussions where MS tried to say it had something to do with the printer driver in Adobe, etc., etc.  I don't understand why I have to install a 3rd party program (Onetastic) which does plenty of good things, but I really only use it for the rotate PDF menu that it provides.  Did the MS engineers just get too tired to include this very basic, totally necessary feature?

    Thank EJ, I have the same problem with oneNote. If you call Microsoft, they always  push you to subscribe the service for one year, or one time pay.  This is a very basic thing. Even they don't  clarify the problem and how to fix it. Just money and money..... that's not fair,,,,, we have already paid lot for MS products......... So could any one help,,,,, how can I import the landscape slides (pdf or powerpoint) in portrait layout and annotate on them in my class , seminar or presentation...........

    It is irritating that when you copy and past or print a pdf into Note it turns it sidways and there is no way to turn it.

    This is wrong. Just don't use Insert Printout, use the Send to OneNote "printer" directly, then you can set the orientation in the printer's properties.

    Then maybe someone should add the function.  It is irritating that when you copy and past or print a pdf into Note it turns it sidways and there is no way to turn it.  I would think that is kind of common sense to have this function in OneNote.

    It was a 'printout' and your advice worked.  Not sure why I didn't think that through on my own...but it's so nice to have the experts handy!

    1. Open the PDF in Adobe.
    2. Select print

    The print dialogue box will display. 

    • select "send To OneNote" as the printer
    • uncheck the box "Auto-Rotate and Center"
    • select "Properties" and then select "Landscape" from the "Layout" tab. Then select "ok"
    • Then select "ok" in the "Print" dialogue box.

    Tested it twice and this solved the issue

     

    Yep, this works just fine.    One note of caution, the actual file is not copied to OneNote.   You have to drag and drop the file after you complete the steps Chandler so graciously provided.    Thanks.
