Rotate PDF's in OneNote

I noticed that OneNote always displays PDF's sideways after inserting them using the File Printout command.  I read some discussions where MS tried to say it had something to do with the printer driver in Adobe, etc., etc.  I don't understand why I have to install a 3rd party program (Onetastic) which does plenty of good things, but I really only use it for the rotate PDF menu that it provides.  Did the MS engineers just get too tired to include this very basic, totally necessary feature?

Rohn007, let me first say that I am not a spokesperson or a business decision maker at Microsoft, just reflecting my experience personally.

    >It is sad that an individual can do something that MS refuses to do

This is not as sad as you think. When Microsoft releases a feature it has to make sure it works in all configurations, all languages, right-to-left layouts, it has to make sure it performs well, that it isn't slow and doesn't eat your hard disk space, it has to make sure that there aren't bugs that will corrupt your data, it has to make sure the feature is secure, that it doesn't allow a hacker to take control of your computer. An individual may or may not worry about these. In fact my addin doesn't always work for some users, it doesn't work for password protected sections, it may have performance and security issues. Also I don't really support anyone with it. If a large corporation were to deploy it and it misbehaves and causes them to lose millions of dollars, I disclaim any liability. So yes Microsoft refuses to do any of this, and this is a good thing.

    >but in the 6 months (more since it was locked down) since it was released, MS has had time to code, test and roll out the feature as part of a Windows Update.

You know, we aren't laying here at Microsoft since we shipped Office 2013. In fact we shipped multiple updates to Windows 8, iOS, Android apps as well as OneNote Web App at SkyDrive. Life is still a trade off here and we spend our time to where it matters most for our customers.

    >Do you mean, in the PDF reader Print to OneNote with the orientation selected?

Yes you can choose your orientation before you print in the reader application, just like you can do with a normal printer.

when printing larger PDF to OneNote, the PDF is broken in individual subpages. This prevent scrolling, and its annoying since I have pages that have 61 subpages attached. Any one knows a solutions to this?

Go to File -> Options -> Advanced and uncheck "Insert long printouts on multiple pages".

    Thanks Rohn007,

I actually realised there was a virus affecting all my Microsoft Office software. I took care of it I am now able to print PDF in layout format to one note no matter how many pages the PDF has.

I have one question that came up since I am able to print larger PDF. When I print small PDF to OneNote they are all on the same page and I can just scroll down. But when printing larger PDF to OneNote, the PDF is broken in individual subpages. This prevent scrolling, and its annoying since I have pages that have 61 subpages attached. Any one knows a solutions to this?

    Thanks,

    Francis
