Rotate PDF's in OneNote

I noticed that OneNote always displays PDF's sideways after inserting them using the File Printout command.  I read some discussions where MS tried to say it had something to do with the printer driver in Adobe, etc., etc.  I don't understand why I have to install a 3rd party program (Onetastic) which does plenty of good things, but I really only use it for the rotate PDF menu that it provides.  Did the MS engineers just get too tired to include this very basic, totally necessary feature?

    Hi, I havent read all replies to this question, so my solution may be repetitive.

    I have Onenote 2016 and for me the solution was:

    • Open the pdf in an Adobe reader program (I think any other pdf program should work as well)
    • Attempt to print the file
    • Select 'Send to OneNote ...' as your printer
    • Go to the advance options of the printing and change the orientation of the PDF from portrait to landscape
    • Print and choose your preferred location in OneNote

    I realize that this is old, but the functionality hasn't been changed. I found a pretty easy solution.

    1. Paste the printout of the PDF into your OneNote document. The printout basically creates an image within the document.
    2. Select the printout image, and Cut it.
    3. Paste it into an image editor. I used IrfanView, which is free.
    4. Rotate the image.
    5. Crop it if needed.
    6. Copy and paste it back into OneNote.

    I also noticed that if you choose "Advanced" in the Send to One Note 2013 printer options, and then choose, "Print as image," it is placed into One Note 2013 in the proper orientation, and not sideways.

    Open the print window. In the bottom left uncheck "Auto-rotate and center pages". Next check "Use PDF page size to select paper source". Also, be sure you are printing in portrait mode. Your printouts to OneNote will appear in portrait although smaller in size.
