Red X on slide thumbnails in Master View

In PowerPoint 2013, in the presentation I'm creating, the thumbnails view doesn't show the thumbnails, but instead displays a large red X on every slide. The slides look fine in the slide view itself.

Diagnosis and recommendations welcome.

    I opened the presentation showing red X's in PowerPoint 2013 in PowerPoint 2010 and everything works fine.

    I then duplicated the slides in it until it had more than 10000 slides. Et voila - with PowerPoint 2010 even that extreme presentation works like a charm!

    It looks as if Microsoft "destabilized" PowerPoint 2013 compared to the 2010 version.

    It should, yes.  And MS is aware of and working on the problem.

    That's really all I know; as a volunteer here, I'm not privy to the Inner Workings of the Beast.

    We have the same problem and as you can see in the link above, that bug is specific to PowerPoint 2013 and should be fixed by Microsoft.

    Deepa,

    The first link you provided isn't relevant.  It discusses a different problem (images on slides appearing as red-x, rather than the slides in thumbnail view appearing as red-xs, which is what LyteSleeper has asked about).

    The second link might have some useful suggestions, though most of the respondents seem to have concluded that the "fix", such as it is, is to revert to PPT 2010.

    Since this problem has appeared several times now, I hope you have a way of escalating it to someone at MS who can investigate (and, we hope) fix it.

    Hi,

    I understand you see red x in the presentation slides. Let me assist you with the issue.

    Does this issue occur with a specific presentation or is it the same with all the files?

    What is the format of the pictures inserted?

    Let us insert an image of a different format and verify results.
