Powerpoint will not scale properly on second monitor

Powerpoint refuses to scale properly on my second monitor and borders menu items etc. stay too big to operate efficiently. Word is working as it should and the menu items resize appropriately when moving from monitor to monitor. Is there a setting to fix this and make it behave like Word does?

    This is NOT helpful for three reasons:

    1. Office Updates will overwrite your changes all the time. Since Office Updates happen silently (in Office 365) you will never know when Powerpoint switches back to its unfortunate erroneous behavior
    2. Pen based input does not work with this work-around: Pen input appears at wrong positions on the screen if the DPI-Aware setting is changed
    3. Some image types disappear when the DPI-Aware settings are tampered with. I haven't found out exactly which image types are affected, but it has to do with combinations of groups of vector graphics and pixel graphics and transparency.

    The ONLY solution to this problem would be: Powerpoint Developers: Read about what your Windows Developer colleages at Microsoft intended with enabling Windows 8.1 to have different High-DPI settings on different monitors and JUST FIX YOUR BUGS! You may want to ask your Word and Excel Developer colleages how hey were able to just make their programs work. AND You may also ask your Surface Product Manager colleagues what they think about shipping a software which shows its bugs best if run on one of the high-end high-dpi and high-priced flagship Surface devices.

    open the file

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\powerpnt.exe.manifest

    Using a text editor. Then, look for word True/PM in the following block:

    1<br><br><br>2<br><br><br>3<br><br><br>4<br><br><br>5 <asmv3:application<br>xmlns:asmv3="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"><br><br><br><asmv3:windowsSettings<br>xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SMI/2005/WindowsSettings"><br><br><br><dpiAware><strong>True/PM</strong></dpiAware><br><br><br></asmv3:windowsSettings><br><br><br></asmv3:application>

    And change it to:

    1<br><br><br>2<br><br><br>3<br><br><br>4<br><br><br>5 <asmv3:application<br>xmlns:asmv3="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"><br><br><br><asmv3:windowsSettings<br>xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SMI/2005/WindowsSettings"><br><br><br><dpiAware><strong>True</strong></dpiAware><br><br><br></asmv3:windowsSettings><br><br><br></asmv3:application>

    Now save and open PowerPoint. PowerPoint should not auto-scale properly.

    Works with Windows 10 and Office 365 - the installation already contains a manifest. I just replaced the dpiAware setting from "True/PM" to "false" in the existing powerpnt.exe.manifest file.

    Unfortunately on my Surface Book using this approach breaks the stylus (pen) functionality. With the dpiAware setting set to "false", using the new "Draw" functionality in Powerpoint results in the drawing to appear somewhere else on the screen but not under the pen tip.

    So I can choose between

    1. Setting dpiAware to "true" and being unable to use Powerpoint on my second (non-high-dpi) monitor due to monster-sized UI-widgets and menus , or
    2. Setting dpiAware to "false" and being unable to use Powerpoint's "Drawing" feature on my built-in and pen-aware (high-dpi) monitor.

    hmmm.
