why cant i draw a straight line or arrow in word 2013?

hi

in word 2013 when I want to draw an arrow or a line it cant be straight in 180 degree in page and it is always a bit curve to up or down for example draw a rectangle and on its border line draw an arrow ( the arrow must be exactly on rectangle border line ) and you will see that the arrow is curve and is not on rectangle border.

This is easy to recreate, but can be solved by setting the height or width to zero in the ribbon.

    Thanks very much Doug.

    I actually found the same solution, but by right clicking on the object and then selecting More Layout Options/Size.

    One advantage of opening up the Layout dialogue box, which can also be done from the ribbon, is that you can also make micro adjustments to the line length, and the line start position.

    I am so glad I found this forum today.

    When you click on the line, the contextual Drawing Tools tab will be displayed. The size boxes are available there (far right end) without having to open the dialog.

    Try this:

    Simply draw a LINE (not an arrow).  then ADD the arrow ends to the line (right click the line, then click Format Shape . . . , then click Begin Arrow type (or End Arrow type).

    On my home computer this works fine and I can draw exactly horizontal lines, and adjust them at will (several times) with no problems.  But the same procedure produces inconsistent results on the computers at work.
