why cant i draw a straight line or arrow in word 2013?

hi

in word 2013 when I want to draw an arrow or a line it cant be straight in 180 degree in page and it is always a bit curve to up or down for example draw a rectangle and on its border line draw an arrow ( the arrow must be exactly on rectangle border line ) and you will see that the arrow is curve and is not on rectangle border.

This is easy to recreate, but can be solved by setting the height or width to zero in the ribbon.

    I'm glad you found that reply helpful, though it's not the answer to the question that was asked, which addresses a bug in recent versions that causes lines to be nudged away from absolutely horizontal or vertical when you try to move or size them. That can be corrected only by setting the height or width to zero.

    Try this:

    Simply draw a LINE (not an arrow).  then ADD the arrow ends to the line (right click the line, then click Format Shape . . . , then click Begin Arrow type (or End Arrow type).

    On my home computer this works fine and I can draw exactly horizontal lines, and adjust them at will (several times) with no problems.  But the same procedure produces inconsistent results on the computers at work.

    Hey

    I maybe found a decent way around it:

    You'll need to use a modified line and not an arrow (just give the default line an arrow ending).

    I tried to use the width set to 0 solution and it works;

    if you then click on the object with the right button and set it as default for that object, you can reshape the line freely and it doesn't "jump" anymore.

    It gets really more fluid.

    And vertical/horizontal.

    This is only one of many problems with the draw functions in Word 2013.  The entire draw utility is a disaster. Word 2003 was quite good even though it had a few problems. It is astonishing that Microsoft would put such a defect-ridden product on the market, and charge money for it.
