No local file storage for OneNote on Mac version?

I just tried OneNote for a Mac.

I noticed that there is no way to load or save a local OneNote file.

I've been using OneNote on a PC for years. Really like it a lot. Was hoping to

now use it on my Mac.  

I don't know why OneNote is setup this way. I can't even load my existing personal

files from the Mac.  The decision to use a cloud service should be mine and not forced into

it. Even Evernote lets me store locally.

I use it for both personal and work related projects. I cannot put work projects out on

a public cloud repository so this new version is a no go for work. At this point I think

I'll look at Mac equivalents to OneNote and convert to something else.....

Free is great, but I would pay for a fully functional Mac version of OneNote. Please reconsider

local file storage.

Disappointed.

    I'm afraid MS could be missing out on a potentially large Mac user base if they do not address this issue.  I see that I'm replying to a post that is over two years old, and the issue still remains.  Please see what can be done to open OneNote up to Mac users who wish to use local files.

    (this is not just an answer to you but to all who are constantly "threatening" Microsoft to lose users on OneNote if they don't *this* or *that*

    You all are missing one point:

    Microsoft has no strong interest in OneNote users at all. Why should they? It's completely free. They would sell probably not one Office 365 less if OneNote wasn't included.

    They want cloud and service users, not OneNote users. So if you don't want / are allowed to use OneDrive / OneDrive for Business anyway, it does not matter if you will use OneNote or not.

    I have no interest in loading private, personal notes into a cloud. I would like to work and store my notebooks on my personal macbook. Is this at all possible?

    I agree and don't see the logic behind forcing a user to use onedrive. while MS is providing user friendly applications, these kind of limitations are a serious turn off. Ihope MS is not trying to violate data privacy by keeping a option of sneaking into peoples notes to sniff out ideas or whatever else they are looking for!!!

    How is this still an issue, YEARS after it was brought to MS's attention?  We're talking about a HUGE market segment they're losing to Evernote as a result.

    You can vote for the idea and comment on the suggestion here:

    Microsoft has commented about their plans: "We have no plans to support local notebooks," which, to me, is a polite way to say, "No"
