No local file storage for OneNote on Mac version?

I just tried OneNote for a Mac.

I noticed that there is no way to load or save a local OneNote file.

I've been using OneNote on a PC for years. Really like it a lot. Was hoping to

now use it on my Mac.  

I don't know why OneNote is setup this way. I can't even load my existing personal

files from the Mac.  The decision to use a cloud service should be mine and not forced into

it. Even Evernote lets me store locally.

I use it for both personal and work related projects. I cannot put work projects out on

a public cloud repository so this new version is a no go for work. At this point I think

I'll look at Mac equivalents to OneNote and convert to something else.....

Free is great, but I would pay for a fully functional Mac version of OneNote. Please reconsider

local file storage.

Disappointed.

    I will echo all of the others who have requested local file storage/access.  It is a need, often due to business requirements and/or personal preference, that many of us have.  The problem is that Microsoft and others are moving in the direction where they want things to go (i.e. cloud and/or $ubscription model) regardless of the desires/needs of their users (Windows 8 and Office 365 as prime examples). 

    I want local file access and do not want to store my personal information, many times information that is highly confidential, in the cloud.  It is plain and simple.  I want local access and total control and don't trust Microsoft anymore than any other company to guard my data.  And why should I?  We have more than enough examples of why trust given to a corporate entity today is quite foolish.  And I'm certain personal data up in the cloud, if not encrypted, is improperly accessed by IT employees as I've witnessed it during the course of my 25+ years in IT.  Anyone who says otherwise is being disingenuous or naive.   

    If MS won't add this capability, I will either resort to using the Windows version, or find an alternate solution.

    With the recent OneNote update I was encouraged by "You've spoken. We've heard." However, all hopes were squashed after discovering that local file storage is STILL missing. :(

    I used to be an MS fan and MCT. Now I seek to be rid of all MS products and services. MS could still salvage this (past) customer--and all the friends and family whom I advise--by actually showing *customer service*.

    Outline looks to be on a good path, but it appears to be missing some key features:

    * offline use

    * iPad editing

    * iPhone app

    I believe you have been miss-informed. Outline does allow offline use. You can create notebooks in any location whether it be Dropbox, Skydrive or locally. They also have an iPad app for editing.

    There is a Summer 2014 update that is going to be released soon which bring a lot of requested features to the app.

    Well that is sad.  After trying everything, reaaly cannot upload a local file using onenote for mac.  No serious company will use onedrive and its sad that i will have to turn to other option than one note (and the suite office) for my business.

    Ŧhis after the window 8 faillure.. Micrsoft is no longer in the game
