No local file storage for OneNote on Mac version?

I just tried OneNote for a Mac.

I noticed that there is no way to load or save a local OneNote file.

I've been using OneNote on a PC for years. Really like it a lot. Was hoping to

now use it on my Mac.  

I don't know why OneNote is setup this way. I can't even load my existing personal

files from the Mac.  The decision to use a cloud service should be mine and not forced into

it. Even Evernote lets me store locally.

I use it for both personal and work related projects. I cannot put work projects out on

a public cloud repository so this new version is a no go for work. At this point I think

I'll look at Mac equivalents to OneNote and convert to something else.....

Free is great, but I would pay for a fully functional Mac version of OneNote. Please reconsider

local file storage.

Disappointed.

    Any chance OneNote will support local storage and SharePoint?  We have corporate SharePoint servers but even the latest incarnation wont connect to it even though the new feature is that it works with corporate SharePoint...

    I tried specifying the URL for the folder containing the notes, the URL for the Open OneNote.onetoc2... All no go..

    Would be nice if OneNote was compatible with Microsoft products.

    Totally agree.  It would be fantastic if it worked the same as the PC version but sorry Microsoft, I'm not giving up my Macs just to run OneNote!  Short sighted, product design is being run by marketers fighting to push people into their ecosystem.

    Hi Daniel.

    I have some oneNote files that I produced on my old PC, some time ago.

    I moved them to my Mac (which I is my main computer now) but cannot open those files in OneNote since they are not in OneDrive (and apparently they can't be uploaded either from my Mac)

    Do you have any solution for that? You don't expect me to bin the documents and start from scratch in OneDriv, do you?

    It's the same story as with Office, the Mac version lags way behind and all I see now is Android and Windows updates.

    Outline released 3.0 earlier this week, it's becoming more than passable and it stores locally, to Dropbox or to the MS cloud. It makes no sense for me not to move over so I'm done.

    Hi Daniel, I'm facing the same problem, was working on a windows OneNote and now migrated most of my stuff, except OneNote to an iMac. I had accumulated loads of notes for my PhD. It's really painful that the Mac version doesn't create or load local files. Major problem. The Mac version is of not much use really now unless it allows users to create and store locally and read files created on a windows. Otherwise, it's just frustrating like what it is now.
