No local file storage for OneNote on Mac version?

Thanks for the feedback and in the free version of OneNote for Mac it only syncs to the cloud as you see.  Why don't you have your files in the cloud?  Without doing this you all cannot use your notes on other devices.  And the team is looking to add Office 365 & SharePoint sync for work users who cannot sync to OneDrive; right now it was more consumer focused.

As for local files there isn't yet a way to upload them to OneDrive yet, do you have a bunch of old files that you don't have open in OneNote that you can't upload?

Not sure why MS wants we all go to the cloud but personally I love freedom and independence and I do not trust "the Cloud." I do not store important stuff in "the Cloud." Remember the celebrities' pictures incidents? That's why. I do not have "pictures" but I do have personal thoughts and ideas.

We do have options and choices and they are free too. Many folks live well without Microsoft stuffs. For example, we can use Google Docs and many Google's freebies if we need to share stuff. We can use many word processors if I want to take notes. And if we had enough, may be folks at Mozilla would offer some Mozilla Notes with full features and freedom.

If you want OneNote to be a successful apps, make it likable by giving users what they want. I see you guys are moving the MS Suite to the cloud and subscription as well. That might be a big mistake.

Trust me, users' ideas and thoughts count. The slickness of any product does not matter if it does not respect users' demands.

Same boat as everybody else. I have a Mac for work in a mostly windows environment and I would love to be able to collaborate with people in OneNote, but I can't open up a saved .one file on a shared drive in OneNote for Mac. I'm forced to run a windows VM.

This subject may be a bit dated, but I'm in the same boat with regard to having a requirement for local storage.  In my case, I can't place notes that might include PHI, PII, (in plain text or by way of screenshot) or other sensitive/regulated content on your cloud storage.  If it was all recipes and cat pictures, sure thing, but in a work context this is barrier to adoption.  

If I could store all of my data locally, and exclusively, I would be in the clear.  Does that make sense?

Hi Daniel.  I just downloaded OneNote for Mac and also found that I cannot save locally.  I'm surprised by your response.  I have 4 TB at my disposal here on my Mac, why on earth would I want to store ALL of my information on the cloud?  I'm creating a private file with details of the configuration of all of my routers and private accounts.  I don't want that information on the cloud.  That's why we buy computers with hard drives.

Cloud storage is a show stopper for corporate users.  My company does not allow any Cloud-based activity.  Microsoft's main user base for OneNote may very well be corporate users and they shut them out.  Why would MS do that?  When will local-based storage be added?

Yes, very disappointing.  I have a windows phone , 3 windows laptops and a windows 8 tablet. I WANT to use the 'metro' version of OneNote, but without local file support I am forced to continue to use the Office 2013 version.   it is good, but I like the new interface for my tablet.

Honestly, one of the reasons I am not a mac fan is because of the flexibility inhale always had on the windows platform (mot picking a fight mac guys).    but it seems in the MS rush to copy apple, they are also copying the business tactic of trying to lock users into their ecosystem.   disappointing for a diehard windows user.   Microsoft FIX THIS NOW. Before I go back to Evernote. 

And please do not ask me why I need this, I just DO!  why would you take it away????
