No local file storage for OneNote on Mac version?

I agree! I can't understand Microsoft's arrogance in this. Give me the cloud as an option, encourage me to use it, but NEVER force it down my throat. There are certain things I wish I could keep in OneNote but I will never put on the cloud. I don't care how good you think your security is, I won't do it.

Yes, there are certain features that only work with cloud storage, but I don't use them, ever.

Saving/Opening files on local storage is the most basic functionality. It's just not that hard! If your programmers can't do it then call me. I can. If they have architected the product such that it can't be done then fire them for cause and the manager who allowed it. I'm a little overboard here but I want you to understand my frustration with your decision. I love OneNote on the PC. I have used it at work for years...saving files locally! I wanted to use it at home on my Mac. You are forcing me to your competition. Congrats...

Unfortunately, as you probably saw from reading through this thread, the official response from Microsoft is that there are no plans to allow local storage on the Mac.  If this is a requirement you should switch to another program.  Microsoft apparently does not see this as a priority on the Mac side.

been using one note on windows pc for quite awhile.  have notebooks, locally, personal one drive, business one drive, business sharefile, etc.

Now I am adding a Mac.  oh boy it is horrible on a Mac!  can't access my files from share file, can't create any notebooks on Mac locally.  can only use one drive to store files.  Plus you can't pin the open notebooks on the left side.

I see you guys have been aware of this problem since 2014.  Are you looking at dropping the one note application?  Is that why there has not been any progress?  I can see thousands of users dropping one note and having to find another note application because many companies would require only using the storage on their computers.  So is that what is happening? Thousands dropped one note and now you don't have as many users so you guys are not making it functional on the Mac??

This is a big problem.  People need the ability to create notebooks on their local drives!!!!!!!!  HUGE ISSUE! 

Are you guys (Microsoft) going to fix this or just leave it and let the app go to the wayside?

I'm not sure you are listening; I've been waiting for sometime for local storage option.  Many people feel very suspicious about storing e.g. your home office data on a cloud, especially since the security of the data cannot be 100% guaranteed.  I use OneNote at work and was a big advocate for its use in our business and this has local server storage option.  

As disappointed as I am, I will not use this product while the only option is to save to the cloud.

Microsoft does know better.  NSA uses SharePoint (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/07/19/nsa\_sharepoint\_leaks/).  Pretty sure the NSA doesn't use OneDrive...
