I just tried OneNote for a Mac.
I noticed that there is no way to load or save a local OneNote file.
I've been using OneNote on a PC for years. Really like it a lot. Was hoping to
now use it on my Mac.
I don't know why OneNote is setup this way. I can't even load my existing personal
files from the Mac. The decision to use a cloud service should be mine and not forced into
it. Even Evernote lets me store locally.
I use it for both personal and work related projects. I cannot put work projects out on
a public cloud repository so this new version is a no go for work. At this point I think
I'll look at Mac equivalents to OneNote and convert to something else.....
Free is great, but I would pay for a fully functional Mac version of OneNote. Please reconsider
local file storage.

Closer investigation, it depends on where you're cutting and pasting from. Outline, for example, you can't copy from and paste to Onenote, even though it will paste into other apps. Browsers seem to work. Lot of other apps don't .
This looks like a half baked cut and paste in Onenote, the apps that you can't paste into Onenote from, they'll paste fine everywhere else.

Pasting of Images works fine.
I used it this morning. I was having problems copying handwritten notes out of OneNote on the Mac and copied a couple of test images into OneNote, then copied them back out again. That worked fine.
It seems that copying of handwritten notes doesn't work, or it copies them onto the clipboard in a Format that MS Office can't deal with.
I was sure I'd read somewhere that the paid version allowed file read and writes in Onenote so I bought a subscription. Apparently, though, it's not the case so I cancelled.
It's so good to see Onenote on the Mac but it's missing so many really important things. You can't paste an image into it, for example Seriously, you can't paste an image into Onenote for Mac.
This far nobody's mentioned how damned quiet Microsoft support have been on this. They've been very chatty on the social networks, showing off the new toy, but they've been very quiet when it comes to serious omissions in the software. Aside from being just plain rude, it hardly builds confidence in the product.</rant>
