PowerPoint will not allow me to paste anything into a slide. I have tried text into a text box, shapes, entire slides. It allows me to copy or cut, but when I try to paste it is greyed out or does nothing when I use Command+V on my MacBook Pro. I am running Office 2011 Home & Student and copy and paste work fine in Word and Xcel. I have tried to reinstall the software and that didn.t help either... Any ideas?

Well. Repaired disk permissions and same result. Unbelievable that with the resources that Microsoft has at its disposal that it can't fix something as basic copy and paste. Sad. I'm off to Keynote.

You can add me to your "tiny handful". This is clearly a problem and I'm very close to saying adios PP and hello Keynote. Will try a few of the repairs your suggesting but frankly I don't have the time to be messing with these problems.
