Official Word Starter update?

When I opened up my laptop this morning (8/16/14) there was a pop-up on the screen telling me  there was an update available for Microsoft Word Starter 2010 and asking me if I wanted to download it.  It did not look like the typical Windows or Office update notification.  I closed the pop-up and opened Windows update and ran it.  There were some updates available, but none that said they were for Word Starter.  IS there a new Update for Word Starter or is this someone trying to get me to download a virus?

Hi everyone,

We heard back from the product group. The dialog is expected for a legitimate Office 2010 starter update. It appears for click to run scenarios where the path is missing a piece of information between the build that the user is running on and the latest available build.

The august update that was pulled is a Windows update, not an Office update.

Thanks!

what version this update should be updating the software to?

To check what click-to-run version you have installed, open a word document and then click on the File tab.

    Click on Help.

On the right hand side you should see the click-to-run version you have installed listed and below that what version of Microsoft Word Starter you currently have installed.

The most recent Click-to-Run release version is  **14.0.7130.5000**released on Tuesday, August 12, 2014.

You can always check to see what the most current click-to-run version offered is by clicking the Update Options box and then clicking the View Updates option from the drop down menu that appears. That should give you a list of all versions and when they were released.

I don't believe we have received a ruling on that, no.
