Official Word Starter update?

When I opened up my laptop this morning (8/16/14) there was a pop-up on the screen telling me  there was an update available for Microsoft Word Starter 2010 and asking me if I wanted to download it.  It did not look like the typical Windows or Office update notification.  I closed the pop-up and opened Windows update and ran it.  There were some updates available, but none that said they were for Word Starter.  IS there a new Update for Word Starter or is this someone trying to get me to download a virus?

Hi everyone,

We heard back from the product group. The dialog is expected for a legitimate Office 2010 starter update. It appears for click to run scenarios where the path is missing a piece of information between the build that the user is running on and the latest available build.

The august update that was pulled is a Windows update, not an Office update.

    I love his double talk...    Did you notice that he NEVER said that "Yes this is a Microsoft notice and that it is OK to do the update"   or maybe  "Yes it is an legitimate Microsoft Office Starter 2010 update and that it is OK to do the update"  The way I see it is,  expected for a legitimate update...  does not mean it is legitimate.    "Like I said double talk"    >>>>He never said it was legitimate<<<<   No one in this chat group said that it was legitimate....   Come on now Microsoft, let's put this to rest...   Get on here and give us the clear answers we are looking for...

    We really need an answer about this! Why is it taking Microsoft so long?

    Although, I now wonder if this is as a result of the Microsoft Updates that keep your PC safe and up to date. I have my Microsoft Updates (something totally different to the pop-up mentioned here) set to "ask me before downloading Microsoft updates" (which I do regularly), but I HAVEN'T downloaded their recent August updates (phew! read below).

    There was a problem about a week ago with the August Microsoft Updates and users have been advised to uninstall the August update! .... Users getting the "blue screen of death", etc.

    You can read more about this below.... or just search on Google for "microsoft august update" and you'll get loads of details.

    Anyway, does this Office pop-up tie in with anything to do with problems at Microsoft regarding the updates?
