Google Drive now supported in Word for iPad?

So Word for iPad's latest update allows integration with Google Drive, but I can't get it to work.

I checked in 'Add a place' - I can select OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, Dropbox or Sharepoint, but no sign of (Google) Drive.

Under ". . . more" , and "Locations" there's a slide button to select Google Drive, but I can't see any effect.  Even with this switched on, Drive doesn't appear under any of the menus.

Is this a bug?

Very bad to advertise this as a function when it doesn't work. Also the outlook app is in s shocking state at the moment.

I read this before, where and when was it advertised?   If I go to the Apple App Store it doesn't list Google Drive.  The apps were upgraded to support iCloud Drive, but I have personally never seen Google Drive mentioned as a support feature for the iOS office versions.

I do think Google Drive should be an option though!  We use it for our students and its crippling courses here with iPads because you don't have that flexibility to use the Share Sheets in iOS and not be able to use Google Drive in Office apps.

Seems like Android got the Google Drive today, I don't get why they haven't added it to iOS yet!

I have the same problem. None of the solutions has worked out for me. I think we deserve a better explanation from Microsoft.

So, here we are again, yet another MS Office for iOS update and STILL no direct access to Google Drive from within the apps. Interestingly, Google Drive itself now let's you import files from OneDrive I noticed, so you can get your files where you want them in a roundabout way, but it's a clumsy substitute for what should be available.

Hey Satya! Is it really so difficult to give customers what they want???? It's a 'mobile first, cloud first world', remember?
