Google Drive now supported in Word for iPad?

I was having the same problem and the only way I found around it was to save the doc to iCloud first. Then go to Google Drive and upload the doc from iCloud and you now have access to it on GD.

I've had zero problems opening Microsoft Office iOS files from inside of Google Drive.

But... Saving them to Google Drive was no bueno. The resulting files were always empty.

However, saving them to iCloud Drive first and then copying them to Google Drive works good enough as a workaround.

I haven't read every single message here, but I guess it looks like I'm not the only one having problems with opening and saving google drive documents using MS Office apps on Ipad.

I can read and open google drive files, but any changes I make are not saved back to the google drive - it looks like it has saved them and there is no error message, but if you reopen the file again none of the changes are there.

Also, I can create a new file on ipad and save it to the google drive, and this time it does actually create a file on my google drive, but the file is corrupt and cannot be opened again neither on the ipad nor on another device.

Is this the same issue everyone else is seeing or has anyone actually got this to work correctly?

By the way does Onedrive have the same issue?  I guess one solution is simply to move all my googledrive files to Onedrive.

It is early february 2016 and I see reactions like "it is working finally". But then again...we live in 2016 folks. We are talking about the mobile platforms and mobile storage services to utilize it all.... Where did Microsoft ever start a internal refocus campaign to let the employees understand the design principes "secure by design", "secure by default", "working like users would expect it to work by design/default.

The latter is something that is NOT on the roadmap of any Microsoft product I guess. This really sucks big time. And do not start finger pointing Google. Manage it as if it was your own service. Do not develop the same characteristics of IT in new devices only. It really sucks how Google Drive is implemented. No other word for that. A dealbreaker for any real enterprise contract.

Of course ... once I've opened something from Google's cloud, it is available in the PPT's path, but NOT as local GDrive's file...
