Google Drive now supported in Word for iPad?

So Word for iPad's latest update allows integration with Google Drive, but I can't get it to work.

I checked in 'Add a place' - I can select OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, Dropbox or Sharepoint, but no sign of (Google) Drive.

Under ". . . more" , and "Locations" there's a slide button to select Google Drive, but I can't see any effect.  Even with this switched on, Drive doesn't appear under any of the menus.

Is this a bug?

    I had that issue.  This is how I solve it.

    Go to any Apple’s Pages and go to Browse and add Google Drive there via More Locations. Once thats added... go back to Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.  Google Drive should now be available.

    Thank you for your input, Chris, but no, that is not helpful. This thread is about saving to Google Drive. While Word might make you think it is saving to Google Drive, you are actually saving to your iPad and need to export your document to a Cloud if you ever want to retrieve it - and do so before the Word cache clears. Google Drive is not an option for export, because even though it seems to let you choose Drive, Word throws an error and creates 0kb files.

    With help from the steps taken by Mort, I got it to work!

    1. Open, More, Locations, More
    2. Turn on Google Drive, Done
    3. Now, from Open, More, Locations - Google Drive will show in the list
    4. Tap Google Drive, then select your Drive account

    Your documents show up in the list and can be edited within the MS Office app.

    The Drive app is installed, refreshed & working.

    I've also restarted the iPad, the Drive app and Word.

    On the "Locations" menu I can check the buttons for Drive & Dropbox. Dropbox then appears as an available location, but Drive doesn't.

     I have the same problem... What we have to do?

    It still doesn'r work for me

    Ipad pro

    I have IoS 9.3.5

    Word 1.25

    Google Drive version (I couldn't see how to get te version but I installed it in Sept 2016 and it is te modt uptodate)

    I can save word for Ipad to Google Drive but the docs are empty (0 bytes). I try to open a word doc saved on Goolge Drive and it starts to open but disappears before the file opens.

    One Drive works fine but this doesn't sync well for me (so I have to upload to the server), and I have most of my stuff on Google Drive. This is a very annoying bug.

    Anyone found a fix that works for everyone
