Google Drive now supported in Word for iPad?

I had that issue.  This is how I solve it.

Go to any Apple’s Pages and go to Browse and add Google Drive there via More Locations. Once thats added... go back to Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.  Google Drive should now be available.

Can you describe what you mean by "Go to any Apple’s Pages and go to Browse and add Google Drive there via More Locations."

I cannot find what you mean.

I have been trying to figure how to save my Word documents from my iPad and iPhone to Google Drive as well. Apparently we need to purchase the Office suite subscription to allow us to save documents to google Drive. It looks as if we can retrieve them but not save them.

Raju please take the time to read this thread from the beginning. Everybody that came here has got the same  issue and have  the Google drive App installed and functional...  and nobody has confirmed that it ever worked. Not a single person. 

do you have an iPad ? did you get it to work ? 

I had been using Windows PC since MSDOS, but for the ease of memo, reports reading my staffs documents, I had bought my first iPad Pro 12.9inch. Windows base laptop was my preference but budget issues, and being senior management, I do not need any more complex engineering calculation stuffs on my daily routines. 

So I had started to download MS Excel, Word and Power point as basic apps and main documents that I stalled is within my google drive. 

Till today I cannot open my google drive from the above apps.

Google drive capacity that I have is 17GB and another account is 15GB.

Drop box is too small size for free cloud storage.

I had known. Microsoft, Apple, Google being all indepentent, they are so proud and not have the sense of global community, they do block individual as much as possible driving along the cliff.

It is very ironical of seeing “Childs Play” among big boys of IT industry and totally flabbergasted the universal standardization will not be unified until the end of time.

@Chris B9, I have not been able to resolve this. The fix was to download the "Google" app and then when you started the office products it would ask you. I believe it worked on Power Point - I was just testing - and then any other Office app I used it never asks nor gives you the option. There are also non-Microsoft apps that are also supposed to let you use Google drive but I can't get them working either. Now that microsoft is out of telephone biz, and the Surface is rated the poorest table/laptop on the market the only hardware they will have is the XBOX. Even though they still run on 98% of desktops and laptops worldwide the 800 lb Gorilla in the room is Apple and the only other company posing a threat - in the hardware arena - is Google so it is no surprise that getting this to work is problematic. Others people call me crazy when I suggest Apple subvertly discourages this with people pointing out you can get One Drive to work easier but Apple gave into microsoft as the 'roommate you have to live with' a long time ago but Google is the real challenger. They should be glad Elon Musk is interested in electricity, neural brain links, AI, and colonizing Mars or they would have to fend him off.

Also, I don't mind being able to save a file to Google Drive but I hate working with Google Docs which is what you get if  you open the files on the web version of Google drive. I wait until they sync to my desktops and laptops - none of which are Macs. They wanted to be proprietary for so long I gave up on them years ago and refused the one button mouse.

But, I'm also wishy washy. I have only owned iPhones and iPads. Have the 7 but waiting for 8X because I think it might have  charging surprise - see ticker symbol WATT - and I have fallen in love with my iPad Air 2 (or is it pro) anyway, with the real pencil tip. I can use either device to remote control any of my window machines but can't seem to transfer files.

I am having this same problem and would welcome a solution.  I used to be able to add Google Drive as a location in Word and Excel.
