Word found unreadable content...

I am working on my dissertation and recently purchased Word 2010.  Now, when I try to open my paper I get an error message that "Word found unreadable content in....."  When I select yes, to recover that contents I then get another error message that says "we are sorry.  We can't open ......because we found a problem with its contents."  The details then state:  "Operation aborted: max-element-depth constraint violated."

I have tried doing the open and repair and then saving but nothing works...help please?

    We learned the lesson the hard way unfortunately. Does that mean it can't be recovered anymore?

    Saving to the flashdrive is almost certainly the cause of the problem. 

    You should NEVER open a document from any form of removable media or save a document directly from Word to such media.

    It is generally very risky to save a file to a flash drive or open a file from a flash drive and especially to edit a file on a flash drive. The recommended practice is to copy the file from the flash drive to the hard drive, work on it there, then copy it back to the flash drive.

    It was saved-as from an existing file on my moms laptop to her flashdrive then she edited the contents from there.

    Was the document located on some form of removable media when it was last worked on in Word?

    Corruption of an archive as in the case with your file is usually caused by it having been worked on from removable media.
