excel 2013 crashes in windows 8.1

Hi,

I've made a fresh install of windows 8.1, and then office 2013. However excel 2013 crashes every time right after I try to scroll down.

  • Works in safe mode
  • There are no add-ins installed
  • Other office programs work fine
  • already completely uninstalled (via fixit) and reinstalled the software.
  • running windows 8.1 pro

"take a back-up of that OSF.DLL file and delete it.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\Office15\OSF.DLL

Or

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\OSF.DLL

Once the file is deleted open Excel and check if the issue persists."

    Hi Anita,

    Thanks for your advise.

    You are right it is not the same problem.

    I terminated the spoolsv.exe process and it worked.

    So it turned out to be something of spooling with Excel 2013.

    Hi everyone,

    I appear to have the same issues with Excel 2013, but not when scrolling the scroll bar.

    It happened whenever I click the File menu for some actions: saving, printing, etc...

    I tried deleting the OSF.DLL. Didn't work!

    If anyone else out there has ideas to solve this, it would be very much appreciated.

    This is not the same problem. I strongly suggest calling for support. This is the sort of issue that would benefit from guided troubleshooting.

    Hi everyone,

    I appear to have the same issues with Excel 2013, but not when scrolling the scroll bar.

    It happened whenever I click the File menu for some actions: saving, printing, etc... When I click on the File Menu tab, nothing happens. When I move the mouse into the spreadsheet area, and click on a cell...the Excel says "Not Responding" and I have to close Excel, and start it over again...

    My OS is Windows 8.1, and office package is Office 365 Home Premium.

    Every time having this issue, I have to uninstall and reinstall the Office package. Very frustrated routines. It (the reinstalling) worked for sometime, then the issue comes back,...again uninstalling and reinstalling the office. Very frustrating!

    I tried deleting the OSF.DLL. Didn't work!

    If anyone else out there has ideas to solve this, it would be very much appreciated.
