excel 2013 crashes in windows 8.1

Hi,

I've made a fresh install of windows 8.1, and then office 2013. However excel 2013 crashes every time right after I try to scroll down.

  • Works in safe mode
  • There are no add-ins installed
  • Other office programs work fine
  • already completely uninstalled (via fixit) and reinstalled the software.
  • running windows 8.1 pro

"take a back-up of that OSF.DLL file and delete it.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\Office15\OSF.DLL

Or

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\OSF.DLL

Once the file is deleted open Excel and check if the issue persists."

    If I create a new user (administrator) Excel and Word behave correctly.

    Changing default printer made no difference, disabling all but Microsoft Services made no difference disabling all Microsoft Services stops Office running and I have not tried enabling Microsoft services one at a time to see what happens (too tedious).

    OFCAT did not show any issues.

    So still very frustrated as Excel 2013 (crashes when scrolling) and Word 2013 (crashes when spell checking) do not work in my user profile.

    I have same problem with exel. I can't use my files. scrolling down will cause it to crash. Word, Access, Outlook works fine.

    From your description, I understand that you're unable to work with Excel.

    1. Change the default printer to Microsoft XPS Document Writer/OneNote following the steps from the link below and then check whether issue occurs:

    1. Start the computer in clean boot state and then try working with Office application and verify the result.

    Note: Ensure to restart the computer in normal mode after troubleshooting process.
