Office iPad and OneDrive Issues - Missing Folders

After trying out Office Word, Excel and Powerpoint on my iPad it seems to me that OneDrive integration is broken.

The main problem is that various folders do not show up in the Office Apps on the iPad. These missing folders though do show up in the OneDrive app for iPad.

I've also had the Office Apps lock up when trying to refresh a folder. Either the program locks up and I have to restart it or, the refresh icon just spins forever.

To troubleshoot the issue I've removed the Word app, reinstalled and reconnected my OneDrive account. I've done this a couple of times and each time when I try to view one of my folders, the app hangs. After restarting the app the folder I was trying to view has missing subfolders.

If I add a subfolder after I've viewed the folder in Word (for example) the new folder shows up. However, none of the folders that are missing will ever appear, no matter how many times I try to refresh the folder.

Oddly enough the missing folders are different between Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

My "Mac Docs" folder should have 25 folders. Word shows 16 folders, Excel shows 9 and PowerPoint shows all 25. However, PowerPoint also has trouble refreshing the folder, and after I've removed some folders, its still displaying the removed folders.

Office on iPad has great potential for me, especially with OneDrive integration, however, at this stage it appears to be quite buggy.

Today we shipped an update to Office for iOS which should fully solve the problem of folders/files taking a long time to show up (or never show up).  I apologize that it took a while to get this fix to everyone, but we had to be certain to not cause new issues in the process.  

Please retest the issue and let me know if our update fixed your issues and if it didn't then please provide details so that we can investigate.

I am not sure if this helps you, but it has fixed the problem for me.  I found that the folder types in my OneDrive were set to Picture folders, not Document folders.

By selecting the folder in Onedrive web application, the properties have a "Folder Type" when you click on the change hyperlink it gives you the ability to chnage the type from Pictures to Documents via radio button.

Once I performed this task all of my folders appeared. in the iOS Office Apps.

Seems that OneDrive determines the Folder type, from the content placed into the folder.

    This suggestion of folder types did not work for me either.  All were already set as "documents", so I set some to "picture" and then back.  No fix.  I disconnected from the OneDrive service while in Word on the iPad and reconnected, no fix.  

    HOLD THE PRESSES....

    I was typing some more on this and my iPad with Word is in front of me.  I just noticed the screen flash and looked down and all of my folders are there now!  It was about 4 minutes or more and I have 7200 files in 701 folders. Maybe it just takes forever, but I see every folder now.  The folder type did not matter, but the time it took to load did. I checked Excel and the folder list looks complete.  PowerPoint was not used before and it took longer than Excel but I see all folders there also.

    When adding files to OneDrive (say, from my MacBook Pro), I've noticed than even single files can take as much as 24 hours to be visible from the iPad. At other times, the appearance isn't immediate, but much quicker (seconds to minutes); at other times, they never show up (seems to be related to trying to transfer a complete file folder of files).

    Other than the file folder issue, I've found this process to be pretty much unpredictable.

    When the bug and workaround reported here was originally discovered I tried all of the suggestions on this site but without any change resulting. At least fixing what is reported here should not be a major effort for iPad Office Developers.

    I have two iPads (a 2 and a 4) running the latest iOS7 and have had a subscription to Office on the iPad for a few weeks. I am mainly using Word but the problem to be reported also applies to Excel and PowerPoint. Basically to Office (excluding OneDrive) some subfolders seem to become disassociated from their home folder. 

    Here is the problem stated more exactly along with the problem cause: 

    ... Within any folder if a subfolder has a subset name of another subfolder then the contained folders or files float up a level and to Word (but not OneDrive) the subset named folder appears empty. ...

     Eg. If in the top folder Documents we have two subfolders, Docs and Docs 2, containing folders and files, then as Docs is a subset of the name Docs 2, its contents float up as if they are directly under the folder Documents. 

    A workaround, of course in this simple example, is to rename Docs to Docs 1. All the disassociated folders and files then return from directly under Documents to their proper folder now called Docs 1. For someone with hundreds of folders the workaround given here is difficult to police and maintain. 

    Trust that a bug-fix for at least this problem may appear in an update soon, JohnPercy
