We are paying for a subscription so that we can create and edit in the Office apps for iPad. That alone should make this problem's solution the highest priority for Microsoft.
These apps, although somewhat limited on the iPad, are nonetheless much more capable in many ways than any others I have tried, and heaven knows I have tried numerous others. But this particular issue so severely handicaps Microsoft's Office apps for iPad,
as to make them virtually unusable!
If we cannot even create folders within the Office apps, and so have to go to Onedrive to do even this simplest of operations, and then are unable to access them from the Office apps once we have created them in Onedrive, then how are we to recommend the use
of these apps?
The apps in and of themselves are very capable, and hold tremendous promise. But, because of their inability to access their own cloud service, Onedrive, we find that they are completely unable to deliver on that promise. I know that many, many persons were
very disappointed that Microsoft chose to allow access only to Onedrive from their Office apps for iPad. But if the result is that the apps themselves are not even allowing access to their only recourse for a cloud service, then perhaps the time has come
for Microsoft to allow access to a cloud service that actually works, such as Box, Dropbox, or other well known, and widely used cloud services.
This is not an isolated problem affecting only a few people. It is clear that it is affecting people all across the board so to speak, if they have any reasonable amount of folders and files. No reasonable person should expect that in a cloud service providing
tens of GB's of space for storage, that we should have to be limited to a minuscule amount of folders and or sub folders just to be able to use the space. I have 48 GB of space available in my Onedrive account. Should I be expected to only use a small portion
of that space because the apps are so handicapped that they are unable to deal with more than a few folders and sub folders? What a ludicrous supposition!
As I said at the outset, we are paying for a service, and I don't believe that the service should be so handicapped that we cannot use the service that we are paying for. On behalf of all those experiencing this problem, I appeal to Microsoft please to quickly
resolve this problem, so that our confidence in Microsoft and their Office apps for iPad is not found to be misplaced!
