I'm opening a word document from my Onedrive folder on my local machine and it's opening in Word 365 in read-only mode. Why is this and why can't I open the document in Word 2010?

I'm having exactly the same problem. Yet again this morning I open a word doc on my local copy of onedrive and when I come to save it Word refuses with a 'read only' error. I check the attributes and sure enough the read-only flag is set again. I unset it and save the file which then works.
i *keep* having to do this and it's driving me mad. Given that solutions such as google drive and dropbox can do this without issue or error, why is Microsoft's solution so flakey?
Thanks! I've done this but have to keep re-doing this from time to time.
like Becky below,
I selected the folder,
right clicked properties,
deselected read only,
hit save,
then told selected to have it apply setting to all items in folders and subfolders
worked after that
Have tried all this but not working . The properties on OneDrive still goes back o ReadOnly
