Why are my onedrive documents opening in read-only mode after installing office 365 home edition?

I'm opening a word document from my Onedrive folder on my local machine and it's opening in Word 365 in read-only mode. Why is this  and why can't I open the document in Word 2010?

    The problem with me is the folder is marked read only and it wont change.

    So files open read only. Why is this happening? the only fix right now is don't use onedrive.

    I deleted the folder hoping it would be recreated and be normal but no, it came back read only.

    After logging into to OneDrive through the browser, download the document to a folder on your local drive and see if you can do something with it there.

    Hi, I am having the same issue. I only have one Word Doc that is coming up as Read-Only. My problem is, since it is a OneDrive file, I cannot navigate to it in File Explorer to adjust the properties like @nickuofm said.

    When I click on my OneDrive icon in the File Explorer I get this:

    So I am unable to see the 7 Word Docs I have saved on my OneDrive... When I click on that file, Windows asks me if I want to search the Windows Store for an App to open it... I just want to edit the files!!

    So I decided to log on to OneDrive though the browser to see if I could set any Properties there, but nothing at all..

    Any help would be greatly apprediated

    You sent me this same answer in another thread but it didn't work.  When I tried step "1" and rebooted, my Start Menu and Microsoft Edge ceased functioning.  Clicking on either icon did nothing.  Thus I could not access any apps on my entire computer.  I was forced to reset the sytem to a Restore Point prior to activating OneDrive.  Even after doing that Microsoft Edge still is not functioning.  I press the icon and nothing happens.  I reinstalled Windows 10.  Still Microsoft Edge is not functioning.  So now I'm worse off than before attempting the "fix" in the link you sent me:  (1) I've lost Microsoft Edge and (2) the system still does not recognize my administrator rights even though it acknkowledges me as the administrator, the owner, and the only user (i.e., all of my files open in Read-Only mode only).  What do you suggest now?
