No matter how good of a picture I have when I insert it into Visio 2013 Pro, it is blurry.

What is the point of a forum if you don't go back and look at previous posts?  Look at my 9/11/13 post so you can see the picture I posted.  Note that a year later(with the updates) nothing has changed.   Amardeep, be honest here.  Can you import a high definition .png file that's 24"X36" into Visio without it going blurry?  If you can, show me.

Has this been sorted yet? I have a large jpg (17Mb) and its unusable when imported.  I would be happy to downgrade to visio 2010 but Microsoft wont let me!

If you're looking to save an entire page, I probably don't have the answer.

But if you just want to save a group of Visio 2013 objects, then I've got a workaround.

I've tried a million and one options, and I have concluded that the best way to get a clear image is to:

1. Enlarge the image on the Visio screen to maybe 120% or so larger than you'll want it in Word (I've found the largest you can make it, while still seeing it all, the best)
2. Make sure there's nothing in the background - page separators, etc.
3. Using the built-in Windows 7 Snipping Tool, highlight the square area containing the Visio object
4. Save the Snipping Tool 'snip' as a GIF
5. Import the GIF into Word.
6. Resize GIF with built-in Word bottom-right adjuster if needed

Looks pretty damn good .. not perfect ... but as good as it gets.

After a tad more testing, I've determined that the PNG format is ever-so-slightly better than the GIF format.

My tests are to take a look at it after converting it to PDF from Word.

This is an issue with Visio 2013.  Using the same image with Visio 2010 works without any quality loss.

Mathtype inserted into a Visio 2013 document as an object is almost 100% completely useless.  It's been a long time and it still hasn't been fixed.  It's been approx 7 months since your comment, yet nothing has improved.  Any idea as when a fix will be available?

I've used Mathtype & Visio for the last 10-15 years, and no problems until now (new computer with Windows 8.1, Visio 2013, latest Mathtype etc... ).

This issue in not just with MS Word.  My particular problem is all inserted equations are blurred badly, and I must go into each object and update the link to get it to appear normal.  The objects will re-blur if I switch pages or re-open the file.  I've got up to 20 objects on a page, and maybe hundreds, if not thousands of pages. 

Granted, this strongly appears to be a Microsoft issue, but unfortuately this makes Mathtype inoperable.  With such a pathetic state of affairs, I'm hoping MathType will strongly encourage Microsoft to fix this issue.

Oh, and don't get me started with Visio's TrueType only fonts.  I've untold number of files made completely useless because they font substitute...

Anyway, sorry for the venting (and it's not your fault), but after waiting approx 7 months, the latest upgrades didn't fix the problem. :-(

So, 1 year and 1 month later, since my last post, I'm still waiting for a solution. WOW !!!!!!!!

Here's an example of VISIO's rendering of MathType embedded in a VISIO file when I first open it:

Now, in this particular sampling, I have 4 MathType embeddings.  I have to open each one individually, then UPDATE each one, and back out of MathType to see properly:

I have hundred's of files that have hundreds of embeddings.  In addition to what a mess Microsoft has caused, if I print the blurred image, then the printout will be blurred.  If I update it, then it prints it correctly.  But I have to do this each and every time, and if I switch pages, and go back, they're blurred again.  Man, what garbage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And again, don't get me started about MS VISIO's TrueType font issue.  They ruined hundred's of other files due to their font substituting.  The files don't look normal anymore.

And another thing, it's obvious that Microsoft is letting this software degrade.  Sad to say, I was a staunch supporter of everything Microsoft, mainly because of their backward compatibility.  As a company, they're losing their edge, submitting to increased margins at the expense of longtime supporters, and not doing the right thing for their customers.  And they're still clueless to loss of market.  Sorry for the rant but I'm fuming.
