No matter how good of a picture I have when I insert it into Visio 2013 Pro, it is blurry.

I get blue prints as JPG PNG BMP but no matter how good the quality of the picture, after it is inserted into Visio none of the words can be read.  I even used a 600 dpi 36"X24" crystal clean blueprint and it still looked blurry or pixilated in Visio.  What's the deal with this $300 software?  I can open up the bmp png jpg in previewer and it looks great zoomed in by the way.

    Thanks! It is getting better now but not perfect yet.

    I use png-files as backgrounds for technical drawings with Visio 2013.

    I found out that smaller paper sizes like A4 now work very good and are not blurry anymore.

    Unfortunately the problem is still there when it comes to A1 or A0 paper sizes.

    As a workaround i try to split the background in several smaller images now...

    No, on a new install with all the patches in place, Visio still blurs quality images.  Try again.

    Thanks, Amardeep.  I have double-checked the registry key and exported it and saved a copy to the OneDrive folder so you can check that I have created it properly.

    I have checked for the KB patch under installed updates on my machine and it doesn't come up in the list.  However, if I try to install the patch again, I get a message saying that it is already installed.  Perhaps that is causing the issue?

    Thanks mcking38. I tried inserting the png file on the machine with the patch installed and did a high zoom at a portion of the file. The result is on LHS. One a machine without patch, the result is on RHS for the same area.

    Please verify that the registry SupportHighResImage under

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Visio\Application is set to 1 after installing Aug patch - http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2881079

    Hi,

    There are two files in the OneDrive folder that I shared.  One is the Visio file with the image already embedded into it (I would expect that to be blurred when you extract it - that's kind of the whole point of this thread), the other file is a copy of the original image before it has been inserted into the Visio drawing.  If you can't see two files in the folder, please let me know and I'll share it again.
