Status Bar Sum Total Disappears

Thanks for you suggestion. But setting up a sum cell and using the watch window will not help me as I run reports and pull offline as an excel document to post to my accounts. To add a sum cell/watch window to excel file I download, would be timely. In my instance I just need a sum for a few transactions. For example I only want a few items that are on a specific travel document.  I usually select the cells for that travel document and can see the sum on the bottom of the screen.This is how I match up with transactions on my accounts. Any functions that you know of that I could try for that scenario?

I believe the "Newer" way to handle this is to add a cell that has your Sum formula on each workbook.

Then add the "Watch Window" to Excel.

This allows one to monitor multiple cells in one location.

This has less chance of errors and confusion over what and where things are selected.

I've been using this more and more.

One can use the Status bar in many variations.  But, it's probably not the best way.

To have to open separate instances of Excel continually ALL Day Long is counter-productive. I too use the total when posting from ledgers to accounts. Please Microsoft,  just fix the bug.. I can't imagine why it would be an issue for Microsoft to allow a total to remain in the bottom cell - When it is definitely a feature many people have used in the past.

Edit: Thank you Jude Wong for the work-around. I am disappointed that I have to continue to open separate instances of excel to maintain functionality like I did with 2010. Bummer.
