Horizontal scroll by mousewheel not working

I have a Logitech M500 mouse. This mouse has a mechanical mousewheel (the "ticking" kind), which can also be clicked from the sides to horizontally scroll. The great thing as that this works almost everywhere... In my browser, in Notepad++, basically almost everywhere as far as the programs go that I use. Except for Excel 2013.

Possibly related, it also doesn't work in regular ol' Explorer file browser windows. Not a bother, because I use Total Commander. But the horizontal scroll thing does work in Internet Explorer 10, which seems odd to me (same company behind Explorer and Internet Explorer, after all).

When I got the mouse, I did not install any drivers myself. I just connected the mouse and let Windows looks for and install proper drivers completely automatically. And since it works perfectly in the browser and my code editor, I figured the horizontal scroll function was working properly.

Is there perhaps some kind of thing that I need to do to make Excel recognize a horizontal scoll from the scrollwheel, or have I perhaps stumbled upon a bug?

btw, this is my mouse:

Just hit this bug, too. Got some additional weirdness in that the problem occurs only in Excel and only using the horizontal scroll "clicker" of the mouse:

    • Horizontal mouse scrolling in any other application (including other office applications) works.
    • Horizontal scrolling in Excel via the touch pad (two-finger scrolling) and via (I'm on a think pad) the track point (holding down the middle track point button) works.
    • ****, MS?! (and thanks for censoring this -.-)

    I'm on windows 10 / office 2016 btw.

Hi, I just bought a new Logitech MX Master and had the same issue. Horizontal Scrolling was working in Firefox and Word but not in Excel.

I could resolve the issue by downloading the newest version of "Logitech Options".

You just need to install that software and than horizontol scrolling works in Excel immediatley (you don't even need to restart excel!). No further configuration ist required :)
