Horizontal scroll by mousewheel not working

I have a Logitech M500 mouse. This mouse has a mechanical mousewheel (the "ticking" kind), which can also be clicked from the sides to horizontally scroll. The great thing as that this works almost everywhere... In my browser, in Notepad++, basically almost everywhere as far as the programs go that I use. Except for Excel 2013.

Possibly related, it also doesn't work in regular ol' Explorer file browser windows. Not a bother, because I use Total Commander. But the horizontal scroll thing does work in Internet Explorer 10, which seems odd to me (same company behind Explorer and Internet Explorer, after all).

When I got the mouse, I did not install any drivers myself. I just connected the mouse and let Windows looks for and install proper drivers completely automatically. And since it works perfectly in the browser and my code editor, I figured the horizontal scroll function was working properly.

Is there perhaps some kind of thing that I need to do to make Excel recognize a horizontal scoll from the scrollwheel, or have I perhaps stumbled upon a bug?

    Go to Personalize - Change mouse pointers - SetPoint Settings - Advanced Settings - Uncheck Enable application specific button settings. - Apply. That worked for me.

    I primarily work on with MSO 2003 on Server 2003R2 and Svr2008, but I do have MSO 2010 installed on all systems as well.

    My mice are Logitech G7 and LX5 on Svr2003, G700 on Svr 2008, v200 on laptops with Win 8,1 and XPSP3.

    For G700 on Svr 2008 "Gaming software" overrides "Setpoint" even though both are installed.

    M325 is strictly a notepad mouse, but I'll try it with Svr2008.

    I need a fully functional, full size mouse (G7, G700) on a major system, on a major computer - i74930K @ 4.3 GHz, 64Gb, etc.

    I do not play games. I write major programs in assembler, C and VBA.

    Win8 and 10 are toys.

    Svr 2008 is slower than 2003, but allows me to run programs which I cannot install (due to bad installers) on 2003. On the other hand I lose some of the older programs to which I'm used - OE, some Adobe, Windows Explorer etc. The interface also sucks.

    SetPoint work only with older MS systems with older mice.

    For Logitech G7 under Server 2008 or Windows 8 it does not, even though the mouse has that capability. You have to use Gaming Software which DOES NOT provide HS.

    In fact, even the older mice -G7, v200 etc cannot do HZ under win 7, Svr 2008, Win 8 etc.

    I primarily need it for Excel and Explorer.

    i guess I should have been more explicit; win7, MSO 2010, M325 is my config and so it works great for me.  I would skip win8 and go to win10 if I make a move.  Most probably a mac tho.

    Horizontal scrolling on my Sculpt Comfort Mouse is not working after updating the Mouse and Keyboard Center and/or the latest Windows 10 update.  I primarily use it for Excel.  I don't even see the option to enable horizontal scrolling in the mouse settings in Control Panel or in the Mouse and Keyboard Center.

    I had a similar problem with my microsoft sculpt mouse.

    I just put the usb connector and the horizontal scrool works for some programs, but doesn't works on:

    excel

    pdf viewer

    power point

    windows explorer

    paint

    image editor

    SAP

    Access

    So, I solved part of problem downloading and installing the official driver from microsoft site.

    Now, excel, windows explorer and power point works.

    But for the others still doesn't works.
