I purchased the new Office 2013 to work with the Windows 8 that came with my newly purchased computer (Lenovo.)
The issues is, which has been driving me crazy over the past two months, when typing on the Word 2013, my cursor keeps jumping around on the page. For example, in the middle of my typing a sentence, the cursor would jump to three lines above in the middle of a word and continues the my input there. Whenever I see my writing in word is not changing while I definitely was typing, I will have to stop and started to examine where the words have went. After I find them five or whatever lines above, I will have to delete them, use the mouse to click the end of the writing again and trying to retype and continue to type.
I can swallow the problem if it only happens once each document, but it happens 10+ times when I type a two-page essay. I don't think the newly developed software is making my life easier but the opposite.
Does this happen to anybody else? Any clues of why or any suggestions, please?

P.s., please note that besides the letter keys I hit on the keyboard, I did not hit on any other keys such as arrow keys. Especially knowing my cursor jumps around, I am extremely careful with hitting my keys. I do not touch the mouse pad, neither.
P.s., besides jumping to other places and start insert words, sometimes the cursor would select/highlight a line or half line. If I was not aware of the change and hit a space, the whole selected lines are gone. See, I didn't know how to select lines besides using the mouse, and I did not use the mouse but simply typing, so I am very frustrated with what my cursor does to me.

The issue is due to the touch pad sensitivity. You can reduce or disable the sensitivity of touch pad from control panel-> mouse -> mouse properties. If issue still persists, check with an external keyboard.

Have you tried starting Word in Safe mode?
To start in Safe mode, exit Word if it is currently running; then hold the Ctrl key as you restart the program. When prompted for Safe mode, accept. See if you notice any problems for the session running.
(Nothing else installed, not even a real web browser) - Literally nothing... MS Visual C++ is the only other entry on the system.
Safe mode makes no difference, both Word Safe Mode and on Windows Safe mode.
Btw this system is Windows 7 SP1

I restarted Word 2013 with the Ctrl key and put into safe mode. After opening an older document on my hard drive no issues. However, after opening another document on OneDrive it started to misbehave again. I have all my office programs set to automatically update to OneDrive, so now I'm wondering if that is the issue. I will get back once I've run a couple tests to see if I can replicate on all programs and the 3 computers.

If you selected the option (in OneDrive) to edit the document in Word, a second session may have started, which explains why the symptoms came back.
Me too and I updated to 10 and the issue still exists. It's worse if anything. It happens every 2-3 sentences now as opposed to 2-3x per page, which really slows down the workload, drives me insane and increases the risk of sending something out with mistakes in it. It doesn't just drop the cursor into random spaces, but also opens up bing, which is not a browser that I use but seems to have come with 10. Alternatively it opens up functions such as the Research window, etc. I do not rest my wrists on my laptop on the function key or on the ctrl key or even the touchpad. I have reduced the touchpad sensitivity to minimal - I can't turn it off altogether. The same problem happened with my last laptop. I type fast at over 120wpm and it seems to happen most when I'm typing fast. So irritating to lose the train of thought. Please Microsoft come up with a real solution.
