I purchased the new Office 2013 to work with the Windows 8 that came with my newly purchased computer (Lenovo.)
The issues is, which has been driving me crazy over the past two months, when typing on the Word 2013, my cursor keeps jumping around on the page. For example, in the middle of my typing a sentence, the cursor would jump to three lines above in the middle of a word and continues the my input there. Whenever I see my writing in word is not changing while I definitely was typing, I will have to stop and started to examine where the words have went. After I find them five or whatever lines above, I will have to delete them, use the mouse to click the end of the writing again and trying to retype and continue to type.
I can swallow the problem if it only happens once each document, but it happens 10+ times when I type a two-page essay. I don't think the newly developed software is making my life easier but the opposite.
Does this happen to anybody else? Any clues of why or any suggestions, please?

P.s., please note that besides the letter keys I hit on the keyboard, I did not hit on any other keys such as arrow keys. Especially knowing my cursor jumps around, I am extremely careful with hitting my keys. I do not touch the mouse pad, neither.
P.s., besides jumping to other places and start insert words, sometimes the cursor would select/highlight a line or half line. If I was not aware of the change and hit a space, the whole selected lines are gone. See, I didn't know how to select lines besides using the mouse, and I did not use the mouse but simply typing, so I am very frustrated with what my cursor does to me.

The issue is due to the touch pad sensitivity. You can reduce or disable the sensitivity of touch pad from control panel-> mouse -> mouse properties. If issue still persists, check with an external keyboard.

Hmmm? Do you have a laptop or desktop? I'm no computer expert, by any means, but I know that my problem is completely fixed by disabling the laptop's touchpad and using an external mouse. There is something about the action of your hands passing over the touchpad while typing that makes the cursor think you want it to move. Once I started using the mouse, the problem was rectified. But I still turn my laptop touchpad back on when I am using other applications, like Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. If I go to type an email with the touchpad back on, it goes right back to its jumping thing, even when I am not using Word, but am in Yahoo mail. If I have a short email, I just grin and bear it, but if it is lengthy, I get out the mouse and deactivate the touchpad.
I'm sorry this didn't help fix your problem, but I do hope you find the solution soon, because I know how aggravating the jumping cursor dilemma can be.
Definitely the touchpad? Really? I don't have a touchpad but have the same problem.

I have been experiencing the exact same frustration, only I am in the process of trying to write an entire math curriculum at the elementary level...which means lots and lots of typing, so having to readjust the cursor every few minutes when it jumped two lines up and started typing in the middle of a word was very frustrating. But I solved the problem, and wanted to share, since I saw your post when looking for the answer to mine.
The problem is the touchpad...plain and simple, and it can be solved by using a mouse and turning off the touchpad, which is a simple process, at least on my computer it is (Dell inspiron). Just go to your control panel, click on icon view, and mouse and you should see settings for the touchpad. Mine has an on/off switch at the top of the settings window. I simply turned it to off, and have been typing skip free ever since (and am delighted about it, too: ) I am having some trouble readjusting to not using the touchpad, but I am sure that muscle memory will kick in soon and I will stop trying to use it and readjust to just using the mouse.
