I purchased the new Office 2013 to work with the Windows 8 that came with my newly purchased computer (Lenovo.)
The issues is, which has been driving me crazy over the past two months, when typing on the Word 2013, my cursor keeps jumping around on the page. For example, in the middle of my typing a sentence, the cursor would jump to three lines above in the middle of a word and continues the my input there. Whenever I see my writing in word is not changing while I definitely was typing, I will have to stop and started to examine where the words have went. After I find them five or whatever lines above, I will have to delete them, use the mouse to click the end of the writing again and trying to retype and continue to type.
I can swallow the problem if it only happens once each document, but it happens 10+ times when I type a two-page essay. I don't think the newly developed software is making my life easier but the opposite.
Does this happen to anybody else? Any clues of why or any suggestions, please?

P.s., please note that besides the letter keys I hit on the keyboard, I did not hit on any other keys such as arrow keys. Especially knowing my cursor jumps around, I am extremely careful with hitting my keys. I do not touch the mouse pad, neither.
P.s., besides jumping to other places and start insert words, sometimes the cursor would select/highlight a line or half line. If I was not aware of the change and hit a space, the whole selected lines are gone. See, I didn't know how to select lines besides using the mouse, and I did not use the mouse but simply typing, so I am very frustrated with what my cursor does to me.

The issue is due to the touch pad sensitivity. You can reduce or disable the sensitivity of touch pad from control panel-> mouse -> mouse properties. If issue still persists, check with an external keyboard.

The procedure works fine for me on a variety of hardware - Asus, Dell, HP, Toshiba... The procedure clearly also works for most others.
Evidently you're more interested in spleen-venting and finger-pointing than problem resolution... In that case, your problems are firmly located between the seat & keyboard.
I mentioned Lenovo specifically, because the hardware from them is usually much more consistent than the brands that you mentioned, as they are (we don't deal with consumer machines so that may vary) enterprise intended machines. This CAN happen on any brand... as long as it is using office. Actual hardware issues are possible, but this issue IN MY CASE is absolutely not hardware related.
I like how you blame the hardware as if it's impossible for the software to have a problem. If literally NOTHING else has any problem it is EXTREMELY unlikely that it is the hardware. It becomes impossible for it to be the hardware when I can take a hard drive with the faulty office on it, and boot it on another identical system (we have a dozen of the exact same PC - not close - EXACT) and it has the same problem, while the "faulty hardware" can boot the drive with the "not faulty" office and have no problems. A reinstall doesn't always fix it, because it's not a windows problem either... it's Office. Reinstalling office a bunch of times may eventually fix the issue, but not using office means the computer has no issues.
The most important part that you like to gloss over, is that it ONLY HAPPENS IN OFFICE newer than 2010. I could install 2010 on any of the machines with this problem and it works fine. It also never effects any other program
You obviously are not familiar with troubleshooting hardware, so I'm going to leave it at this. When someone intelligent comes along, maybe it'll get fixed, but for now it'll be an annoying bug that turns off users. If all you want to do is flame, that's fine, but you are helping nobody. Myself and others here would like to see this issue fixed, we don't care about **** excuses.
Yes the touchpad on a (then)brand new desktop isn't working correctly, and it is definitely the mouse when it still moves with no mouse hardware attached. I gave up on this issue a while ago, it still happens. MS should really look into this bug. I've just switched a few people to LibreOffice instead, and they are much happier but kinda pissed they spent money on office when they learned that Libre is available. It may not be best for enterprise use or for spreading malware, but it works perfectly for a lot of people.
The computer I originally had this issue on is still:
In use in the office
Still uses LibreOffice without issue
Still has MS Office installed
Still has this issue (only in office of course)
Has not experienced this issue since they stopped using office
No trolling, I just believe people shouldn't have to put up with **** like this in a product they (over)paid for.

I found the solution to this was to go into the Mouse properties which is in Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Devices and Printers/Mouse/ go to the Tapping tab and change the drag lock settings to " Release by tapping or clicking and click off the tap off when typing "this will stop your typing jumping to where -ever you cursor is sitting... also go to touch sensitivity and drag it to Low.
Yes, it's very irritating. I have the same problem. I've got a brand new ASUS laptop. It had 8.1 and it's been updated to 10 now. My cursor moves every other line or so. You have to keep you eyes on the text permanently or it will delete lines and add half words in the middle of previously written sentences.
Not only that but since upgrading to 10, the sound has now gone terrible. I've searched for answers, there aren't any. I now hate windows and I will be converting to Apple. By the way this laptop is top of the range.

Windows 10 is not user friendly at all. Why they spend so much time and money "improving" things but make them worse.
I also don't like Microsoft Edge either.
The forum's great but what are Microsoft actually doing to fix all these problems? Why don't they just give people the option to back to e.g. XP? And support that?
People are going to turn off WIndows and Microsoft will go down the drain.
