Word 2013 is crashing when attempting to open OneDrive files

Lately, I've been attempting to open Word documents from my OneDrive account and as it attempts to open the document, Word (2013) itself crashes.

If I download the file from OneDrive and attempt to open it locally, things work just fine.

The machine I'm having issues with is my work computer which is running Windows 7 Pro x64 all the latest updates.

I have been bouncing back and forth between my home computer with this document, which is a Windows 8.1 x64 Update 1. Also running Office 2013. I have not attempted to open the document again from my home computer since this has started happening, however I will attempt this evening to see if I am also getting the problem there.

    Yes, see the responses (copied below) from Lauwrensz Bakker and my followup. This worked last year and I've not had the issue again after multiple updates to Office 16/365

    clear the officefilecache directory and the issue is fixed.

    Thank you!! I have spent hours on these forums and with MS tech support and this was the only solution that fixed the "Word stopped working" error on every attempt to open or save a document from/to a OneDrive folder. Clear the office cache for every version of office listed in the appdata/Microsoft/office forlder (15.0 and 16.0 in my case). The error appeared after upgrading Office 16 to the most recent version in December, and reverting to Office 2013 was the only fix that worked for me until I found this post.

    I think I get the solution. When the issue started, I reviewed the OneDrive configuration and I see marked the first two options, "Use Office to sync Office files" and "use office 2016 to sync Office files that is want to open" or somethings like that. My OneDrive app are in spanish. When I unmark the Office option (I let the Office 2016 option marked) Word works like a charm!

    Even, if you unmark the two options, Word works flawless. Please, try it and let me know if that's works to you.

    I had a user that was having the same issues with PowerPoint and Office 365 so I'm not sure if it will work but this is what I did after seeing an error from PowerPoint.

    If the file was properly recovered, replaced, or deleted, you can remove the file from the list of disabled files (re-enable the file) by clicking the File tab, clicking Options, and then clicking Add-Ins. In the Manage list, click the arrow and select Disabled Items, click Go, and then select the disabled item that you want to re-enable.

    That did it for me. Any office program kept crashing when opening files from office365 sharepoint after Win10 was updated. Deactivating the "use Office2016 to sync Office that I open" in oneDrive setting solved this issue.
