With today's OneNote for Mac update in the App Store (version 15.7.1), we've changed the minimum system requirements for OneNote to take advantage of the latest and greatest capabilities in Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10). Yosemite (10.10) is a free upgrade and is supported on the same hardware as Mavericks (10.9).
If you previously installed OneNote for Mac and are on OS X Mavericks (10.9), you can continue using the older version of OneNote for Mac, however in order to get today's update or any future OneNote updates, you must upgrade your OS to Yosemite 10.10 or later.

2015-04-26T12:01:56+00:00 Yosemite is free, sure, but it is a horrible operating system. Like the other reply, our family downgraded back to Mavericks, which is MUCH better. So, again, if we want to use OneNote, how do we get a version for Mavericks? Also, forcing folks to upgrade for no apparent reason, or locking in to one version of an OS does not seem very sensible.
What's horrible about Yosemite?

2015-04-30T20:48:24+00:00 My company will not allow us to upgrade to Yosemite until they finished testing and validation, so we upgrade at our own risk. Therefore, I cannot install OneNote (I'm a new employee and didn't have it installed). I don't get the option to download an older version. I just get an error that says it can't be installed because OS X version 10.10 or later is required. It would be nice to be able to download and older version of this app from somewhere because I cannot from iTunes.
