OneNote for Mac now requires Mac OS X Yosemite

With today's OneNote for Mac update in the App Store (version 15.7.1), we've changed the minimum system requirements for OneNote to take advantage of the latest and greatest capabilities in Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10). Yosemite (10.10) is a free upgrade and is supported on the same hardware as Mavericks (10.9).

If you previously installed OneNote for Mac and are on OS X Mavericks (10.9), you can continue using the older version of OneNote for Mac, however in order to get today's update or any future OneNote updates, you must upgrade your OS to Yosemite 10.10 or later.

    Yosemite is free, sure, but it is a horrible operating system.  Like the other reply, our family downgraded back to Mavericks, which is MUCH better.  So, again, if we want to  use OneNote, how do we get a version for Mavericks?  Also, forcing folks to upgrade for no apparent reason, or locking in to one version of an OS does not seem very sensible.

    What's horrible about Yosemite?

    I think it is legal, but not safe. I'd prefer to get link to MS resource such as their Download Center.

    I think it is safe, because You don't need to use downloaded program. And no need to run it

    just copy to /Applications and

    It will be automatically updated to official 15.4 from AppStore

    You must have any old version to update, but You cannot download it directly from Mavericks 

    Unfortunately this doesn't work. AppStore shows me only "incompatible update" to OneNote 15.8

    On the bright side, at least they fixed the 100% CPU usage problem before abandoning Mavericks.

    I wish they had fixed the printing feature.

    Printing anything from OneNote still prints at like 200% zoom level, so it's useless.

    So, it seems version 15.4 141113 is the last version for Mavericks. RIP OneNote.

    Finally, I found some old copy of OneNote, installed....and it was updated to the latest Mavericks compatible version "15.4 (141113), © 2014 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved."

    So, they still have it in Appstore.

    But it is unavailable for new users for some reason,  only as an update.

    I very glad for you, but I can't do it. At first time I get such problem. And it is ... rightly it is Microsoft. Everything  changes in universe apart from Microsoft. Amen.
