OneNote for Mac crashes on start

<p>Today, when using OneNote for Mac my MacBook Pro crashed. After rebooting, it told me OneNote had caused the crash. Now, everytime I open OneNote, the app crashed immediately. I've tried re-installing through the App Store and removing caches but it keeps crashing on start.</p><p></p><p>What to do? Most important is there are a lot of unsynced changes I cannot afford to lose...</p>

I was able to fix the crash on startup by following these steps from another thread:

  • Delete this folder: ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.onenote.mac
  • Delete this folder: ~/Library/Group\ Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office
  • Open up “Keychain Access” app on your Mac, and search for “MicrosoftOffice”. If OneNote recognized that you signed in, you will have an entry with a long name. Delete it.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Try launching OneNote and signing in again.

    Richard ~ There are two Library folders in OS X and I wonder if the explanation is that you're looking in the wrong one which is here:

    Macintosh HD > Library

    The correct Library is here:

    Macintosh HD > Users > [Home name] > Library

    ...To access that correct Library, in the Finder click on the Go menu in the menu bar at the top of the screen, press and hold the ⌥ (Option) key and then choose Library which should now appear under the Go menu. See if that Library folder contains a Containers folder.

    My OneNote for Mac crashes every 70 seconds on my MacBook Pro

    I have password protected folders that contain key business information.  I need to retain this data, so please tell me what files/folders to backup first before deleting this program from my applications folder and reinstalling.

    The "solution" you provided to others here will not work for me since my computer does NOT contain any folder called "containers" and also does not contain a folder called "Group."  Those folders simply do not exist.  

    In addition, don't ask me for my "crash data," since I pasted it here and attempted to submit, but I received a message: Your message is too long. Reduce to 60,000 or fewer characters. Current count is 104423 characters.

    Could you please tell me how I can fix MY particular situation?

    i tried deleting and restarting as stated below and didn't work ... ps I also have another folder "com.microsoft.onenote.mac.sharextensions" ????? 

    Im not a computer smart geek ;-0)

    Using OneNote v15.13.2 on a mac book air Yosemite - I also suddenly began to have this trouble - crashes after 1.3min. or so tried the library folder solution below - didn't work ... heres my error log below:
