Excel is not working Error "We're sorry, but Excel has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly".

I have installed O365 all apps are working fine except Excel it is giving Error "We're sorry, but Excel has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly". Excel will need to be closed as a result.it is giving repair option however tired both repair option online and offline issue is still unresolved.

Hi

As per the description you are facing issue while trying to access the Excel program. Let me assist you with the issue.

Does the error pop up as soon as you click on the Excel program to open or once the Excel is opened?

Try the steps below and check if it helps:

Step 1:

Try to open Excel in safe mode and check if it opens:

· Hold Windows key + R.

· Copy and paste, or type the following command in the Open box, and then press Enter:

Excel /safe

Note: There is space between Excel and**/**

If the issue does not occur in Excel safe, then try to disable add-ins associated with Excel 2013 and check the result.

· Click on File menu, Options and then Add-ins.

· Click on Go button besides Manage: Com-in Add.

· Check if there are add-ins listed, clear the checkbox to disable them.

Step 2:

If the above step fails, try the step below:

Right click on Excel (.exe) > Properties > Compatibility > uncheck all the boxes, click Ok and check if it helps.

To access Excel (.exe), open the following location:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\Excel.exe

Or

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\Root\Office15\Excel.exe

Try to open Excel and check if it opens.

    Thanks, Deepa! I tried Step 2 with Compability and found Excel 2013 works with Windows 8 or 7, but not with 8.1.  I switched Excel 2013 to work with Windows 8 and now it is working fine.

    Changing the compatability setting to Windows 8 from Windows 8.1 now allows Excel 2013 to work.

    Well done.

    Good evening Deepa Raj,

    I have been following all the instructions in these articles to get Excel to run, to no avail.

    I have a brand new computer, running Windows 8.1 64 bit, and a brand new version of Office 2013 Home and Business.

    Initially I had problems with all Office Products, but after updating ABBYY fine reader, to version 9.0 58234, the other Office products are working correctly, except Excel 2013.

    The moment I click on the icon a message shows "we're sorry, but Excel has run into an error that is preventing Excel from working correctly. Excel will need to close as a result. Would you like us to repair now"

    Clicking on the repair button does nothing!

    I am at the end of my tether and may delete Office 2013 and go back to Office 2007 of my old computer. btw, all version are legal and fully licensed and registered.

    Can you help please?

    PS I also used the hotfix supplied tonight, but it said no product was installed on this computer, yet the hotfix was intended for this fault
