Word for iPad Save As PDF

As far as I can tell, there is no way to save a word document (accessed via onedrive) as a PDF from my iPad. I have looked into third party programs to convert onedrive word documents to PDFs, but they mess up our header.

It is important for us to be able to work on word documents on the go, and email out a pdf of the document once complete. When will we be able to save as a PDF?

You're correct that Word for iPad doesn't currently have the ability to save as PDF. Thanks for the feedback on this and the explanation about how it impacts your workflow. I'll take this back to the team for consideration for a future release.

    The idea that PDFs are "saved" has actually gone away for some time now on the desktop. On desktop Office, we "export" PDFs. The term "save" refers to native file types, with the specified type remaining the open document in future edits/saves. Exporting doesn't change the current file type.

    iOS complicates things further because of the file structure paradigm being so much different, but it would have been nice if Microsoft let us export PDFs right there in OneDrive, where we could easily access them for further processing, rather than having to email them to ourselves. Perhaps Microsoft doesn't want to over-enable creation of PDFs, an Adobe thing, but the whole emailing of a file to yourself is such a kludgy workaround, and the blame for that is better placed on Apple than Microsoft.

    Glad to hear it is working for you, but I am still wondering why it doesn't work for the other folks. We expect that people on subscription have this feature but others don't, but that is still not confirmed in my mind.

    Here's a weird addition to the thread...

    I have v 1.22 on both iPhone 6 and iPad Pro.

    I have a 365 account and am logged in.

    Until a couple of days ago, I used to be able to save PDF versions of the word docs straight into my DropBox account from within the MS Word app as described in this thread.

    The iPad won't let me do that now, the Dropbox feature button does nothing.

    BUT...

    on my iPhone, it still works fine - I can save a word doc as a PDF direct to my DropBox folder system.

    Now THAT is mad!

    I'm going to do nothing and hope it comes back!

    I am able to Save Attachment as PDF to Dropbox on both iPhone and iPad. I think if the DropBox icon shows, the functionality should be there. Perhaps you should check your DropBox app and account settings (sometimes you have to re-log in). Maybe restart the iPad too. It should work.
