excel skips to another workbook for no apparent reason

I am having another problem with Excel and I believe this is also due to changing the way it operates.

For years now I have been producing spreadsheets with dynamic graphs. I.e change a parameter and the graph changes too. Only ... now it doesn't!

I have a workbook saved with the new calculated coordinates and excel is still displaying the previous graph; for which the data no longer exists!.

I get the distinct impression that excel is not as powerful as it used to be.

But keeping to topic...

I recently (two days ago) downloaded the latest office update, which included updates for excel. I was hoping against all hope that they have realized the error of their ways. But alas it was not to be.

The jumping to other sheets is still happening about 20 times per day.

We also have a user experiencing the same issue.  Windows 7, Office 365 (2016).  Hopefully there will be an update soon or at the very least a workaround.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. 

They bring many changes to new versions just for the sake of it and they don't do their homework. If someone had bothered to test it properly they would have found it.

It is always the end user who has to put up with their incompetence.

Splitting excel into separate workbooks is the cause of this problem and I wouldn't be surprised if they knew this would be the price we would have to pay for it.

For those who don't understand what I mean... When you have multiple workbooks open and minimize; you will notice that you have to minimize every workbook. On previous versions all workbooks minimized collectively.

I am very angry about having to put up with this numerous times daily.

So you are now the third person on this thread with the same exact problem. (cshannon on 8/21/15 and me).

I think that you are the first to note that it jumps to the last active cell on the other workbook.  I think that is the case with me also.

Add me to the list. I've had this problem for a while and only just decided to search to see if there is a solution. I initially thought it had to do with running macros (seems to be the most common trigger for me) but it happens during normal operation as well.

This exact thing is happening to multiple users of mine as well. Running Windows 7 with both Office 2013 and Office 2016 (from O365)

Still waiting for a resolution from Microsoft....
