excel skips to another workbook for no apparent reason

Quite often when I try to make an entry into a cell excel appears to freeze.  If I hit the enter button it skips to a different workbook.  There are no links between the two workbooks.  This has been happening for some time and is very annoying.

Nope. We're all just on here complaining about the same thing. They don't seem to care. =(

Same issue here - this issue hasn't been anything more than annoying to me, but it's not an issue I should have.

Anyone at MS reading this thread?

Having the exact same issues, three years later. Microsoft, please fix this issue. It kills productivity in more ways than you can imagine.

Brittany, I'm not sure what you do for a living, but the US economy is doing really well right now and I'd go for it. Pick that computer up as high over your head as you can lift it, and SLAM it off the floor. Go for it!!

Oh, how I wish. I've only been here 8 months though - they'd think I'd lost my mind, which I'm pretty sure I do every time this happens to me.

Try running Excel with no addons.  For me it was an addon installed by Thomson One but other addons could cause this as well.  Since I've uninstalled the addon and taken steps to make sure the other program doesn't re-install it I've been fine.

Doesn't matter. Have run Excel with and without addons and the problem has still occurred. Short of starting Excel in safe mode every time I use the software (which is absurd), I'm out of options. This is a problem that's been going on for year and that Microsoft has clearly ignored.

This is the exact same response I have. I'm not running add-ons. It doesn't matter what is running or not running, what computer I'm on, whether it's 2013 or 2016, whether it's one employer or another... none of that matters. It does it all the time.
