Open the Publisher application and go to File, Click Accounts, on the right side click Change Product Key.

    Amen! As I skimmed through the 5 pages of responses, I was getting more and more angry at the response(s) I read from him.

    I assume the "V" represents "valuable", and you sir, are not valuable.

    @ Every frustrated reader seeking an answer to this common question:

    Let me offer a possible workaround:

    Attempt activation!  If the key is in use, or already registered, I belive it should bring up a screen that offers the option to Change the key.

    I also believe that the "Change Key" option only appears after the product has been activated.

    I will be testing this today and will try to post the results that follow.

    Indeed, if the activation has already been attempted then the only way I have found is to do the online repair. You then do a virtual reinstall (without needing to insert any media), but you keep settings and content e.g. for Outlook.

    Somewhere along the "reinstall" you get the option to activate. DO NOT click this. Instead underneath you see in small letters something like "use a product key" Click on this link and you can then enter a new key.

    Just a response to DavidF2. It is incomprehensible that Microsoft would honor you with the title MVP. Your copy paste replies are a shame on the company. The problem was clearly described by many. The solution was not rocket science. I would suggest that if you have nothing useful to contribute, that you do not waste the space on this forum. The forum you suggested was of no help in solving this problem.
