I just upgraded to a full version of MS Office 2013. I am using Word and notice two things. One, it is not auto-correcting misspelled words as I type, and two, when I go to the "Review" tab and select "Spelling and Grammar" to do a spell check, it says "Spelling and grammar complete. You're good to go!" This is not correct.
I've gone to the Options menu. Autocorrect is turned on. Nothing else seems to make logical sense to me.
Is anyone else having this issue? Can someone help? I NEED my spell check.
Thank you
PS. My OS is Win7, 64-bit and I'm using Office 2013.

Again, a fuller exploration of this is available on Suzanne Barnhill's page:
Mastering the Spelling Checker
Since the setting can be set for a single character or word and can through copying and pasting go through a document or to other documents, it can seem like a virus.
I think there's a glitch w/Word, I'm having the same issue. There are NO errors, yet it constantly has an X. It will go back to a check mark once I click it and it tells me I'm good to go and all, then all I have to do is hit the space bar or Enter and the x is back. There's something wrong. It's showing errors even when there aren't any. It's really annoying and such a nuisance. It started happening to me about a week ago, maybe a little longer.
Then somehow all of my words that I had added previously over the last year and some change had been cleared and reset. So I just went through and redid an entire document which was over 300 pages long b/c it decided that it no longer recognized words which I had added, so as not to be rechecked. It wasn't a super important document, it was just my diary where I use a lot of personal expressions and my own Layla-speak, so I wanted to add those b/c I hate having them show up over and over. So it looks like I'm having the opposite problem, it's simply checking things too much. It's(Word) really gone batty. I think there's some bug or something. I have gone over this and no matter what I have checked in options or ribbons or whatever, there's something wonky going on all the time.

Hi Layla,
This is an old thread, almost 2 years and 5 pages. It is marked as "Answered" so many of the people who could provide insight may not read it again. I would urge you, if you want help, to read the article referred to in the post marked as an Answer: Mastering the Spelling Checker.
If that does not seem to have the solution to your problems, post a new question laying out exactly what you are experiencing and what you have tried. That is the way to get the most help.
The following may not be a solution to all users, but solved my issue.
I am a new user to Word 2013 and one of my first documents contained what I knew to be spelling errors. The spellchecker didn't highlight these words, leading me to this thread. What I realized was that the incorrectly spelled words were in all capitals.
Go to FILE: OPTIONS: PROOFING, and uncheck the box that says "Ignore words in UPPERCASE".
You may have to weed through some acronyms, etc at spell check time, but that's better than an error in the title of your important report or resume!
